I started skiing this winter and really love it. I bougth my own skis recently but haven't tried them yet. A friend who is advanced suggested to go a little longer than the skis i've been practicing with (149cm)because it will be best for me in the long run. I bought 159cm twin tips. I am 5'3 115 pound woman. I got the skis and they seem long and i'm wondering if I should get 149cm instead (only other size down). I've read that you should go a little longer with twin tips but go shorter if you are beginner. I plan on using these skis for many years to come and become an advance skier. Will I have a lot of trouble at first skiing with 159cm? Should I go shorter or stick with what I got. I'm really confused because I have no idea what my prefrence would be because I am not experienced with diffrend ski lenghts. Thank you !
I think you they should be good. As long as you're able to ski confidently and with power, you shouldn't have too much trouble adjusting to the extra length.
I skied a 158 when I was 5'6"
For beginners, I would recommend a ski that goes to around your nose...
Skis above your head may be a bit much for a beginner, but eventually you'll get used to it and it will be fine.
Chances are they will be a little big but it does depend I the skis. If they are soft they will be eAsier for you to handle. Seeing how it's the en of the season maybe keep the new skis in mounted for now. Then next season demo a few sizes and see what you like. If you think the skis you have are too big you can sell them as they are I mounted. That is what I would recomend you do.
