TijmenDalNothing, because I'm not an American who gets pushed pills by doctors who think you should take meds for whatever bullshit reason. I lived in the US for a while and it's crazy what people are taking for no apparent reason... The amount of pharmacies and 'supplement' shops in the US just shows how different it is than the situation in Europe.
The only thing I ever take is an aspirin when I'm hungover as fuck; maybe twice a year.

TijmenDalYou're absolutely right. But it's not like the public can't be held somewhat responsible for the problem.

louie.miragsI blame the general public very little though. For people to be simple minded enough to believe the Bible and some enough to disregard science. I don't blame them for believing prescription drug commercials that show happy old people prancing through fields high off medications.

TijmenDalNow you're addressing the much bigger problem (namely that Americans, in general, are really ignorant). That's definitely the bigger debate. Pills for everything is one of the way it outs itself. Your example of the religion-science debate is another. I love America, but sometimes I really think it's a doomed country... Great things are happening, but so many bad things as well (yes, I'm looking at you Koch-fuckers - among others).

SkiThe603The public can completely be held responsible. Its the previous generations who have fucked us by pushing knowledge about ADD, ADHD, and other fake illnesses to get the stupid parents to get their stupid kids to take a drug that makes them, well stupid.
Advil is good for headaches, but cannabis has helped me medically in every other situation.
californiagrownWhy not take a pill if it makes you happy and healthy?

zzzskizzzI actually had to do some research on sga's this week for school, found this liittle gem on olanzepine (what op takes).
Suspicion of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a frequent cause of emergent psychiatric consultation. Despite early recognition, NMS has remained a syndrome that causes high rates of morbidity and mortality. A 25-year-old male with multiple sclerosis presented to the accident and emergency department and E with ataxia. He was started on steroids. On the third day, he became tearful and anxious. A diagnosis of multiple sclerosis-induced psychosis was made and he was started on olanzepine 2.5 mg BD. On the sixth day the patient was tachypneic and had tachycardia. Temperature recorded in the axilla was 45°C. Patient was intubated and electively ventilated. A diagnosis of NMS was made and treated accordingly. This case report highlights the importance of recognizing and treating NMS in a patient on anti-psychotics.
also side note Olanzapine fixes dopeamine and serotonin levels in the brain, so if you weren't shooting up every week you wouldn't need these pills. But hey shooting up for you is helpful and has no side effects on you because it makes you sober.
