HELP: Tuckerman Ravine skiers

Hey guys!

I am a student at Lyndon State College in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I am an avid Tuckerman Skier coming from a family of Tuckerman skiers! My dad first brought me when I was a kid and my grandpa first brought my dad their when he was a kid. Backcountry skiing runs in the family! When it came time to choose a topic for my senior thesis for college I knew I wanted it to deal with avalanche education and awareness.

So, I am conducting research on the effectiveness of the daily avalanche bulletin related to route choice for the day up within the bowl.

The survey is very short and will only take roughly 10 minutes to complete, if that. The survey includes a consent form and will be anonymous.

I filled this out and have some feedback.
-You should allow people to select more than one activity of choice. For instance, my girlfriend is a snowboard instructor though skis in the BC lots whenever there's major traversing or skinning involved. She snowboards at the resort, and skis and snowboards in the backcountry.
-Also, I'd like to see a question about what other information people consider when choosing routes for Tucks… such as personal snowpack evaluation, by digging pit with compression testing or just general observation.
And I think that your question about changing route plan due to the avy bulletin should just be 'yes' or 'no'.

Where I now live the avy forecasters confirm that avy bulletins are designed for recreational backcountry skiers. People who want to get into the type of terrain I prefer with pillows, cliffs and steep tight chutes need to be aware that avy hazards are much more complicated and dangerous… BUT everyday people rely on the bulletin much more than I think is appropriate. Get educated and know the snow you're going to ski for yourself. Oh, and if there is an avalanche and you have to dig someone out, your group best be prepared to save a life. Avy courses alone don't cut it.

I created the survey using very simple methodology and established questions that are extremely basic and easy to understand. I agree with your point and appreciate the feedback!

Although it may seem like a very simple survey the questions are setup to establish correlations and help to understand the types of people and what or why they make the decisions they do while in the bowl.
