X Games 2014, bust cause of Olympics?

With the Olympics coming up in just a few weeks will we see riders taking it easier in the X Games? I've already heard rumors about people not doing X Games to focus on the Olympics. Will we see a really mellow X Games this year with riders not risking as much to prevent enjury etc.?

lots of guys won't be going to olympics but will still compete in x games. those dude will go hard and the ones that are going to the olympics will probably just not try to push things. but i doubt that geopper or ABM won't compete just cause of another comp in 2 weeks

Nah man, We're just gonna see a lot more fresh talent. Those who are taking it off for the olympics leave room for up and coming athletes. Besides, they're are plenty of disciplines for people to compete in.

Honestly I think it's gonna get pretty crazy, because all the Americans who didn't reach the objective criteria are gonna be skiing balls to the wall to get that coaches discretion spot.

Xgames will be a better comp than Olympics in every aspect. However, it would suck if some of the invited skiers didn't "try" all because of Sochi.

None of the olympic guys are going to "show their hand".
Tonnes of secret work and training has been going on there, and they'll all be leaving it until the Olympics for that stuff.
It'll still go off though, but you won't be seeing all the (shhhh....triples) until Sochi.

It's basically just more practice to try new tricks, maybe if the olympics was the next weekend but they'll have a good 3 weeks after X so if they dont do xgames they're pus bags. Not to meantion the financial gain from doing the xgames, makes sense to do it just for that.

I agree. Winter X has been the Holy Grail and staple of the sport since the start. I would really hate to see it become overshadowed by an even that has much more restrictions and only happens every 4 years..
