Custom topsheets anyone?

i dont usually activly participate in threads, i much more prefer to watch the madness, but i find myself with an idea and the ability to carry it out.
Custom vinyl topsheets. i work as a graphic designer and mainly design car wraps (think first drop's subaru)I have access to all sorts of vinyl, and not just the standard colors you see people making stickers out of. this is custom printed stuff that will stick on anything from cars to concrete.
I have made custom topsheets for snowboards and skis and i thought that maybe my fellow NS might like some custom ski graphics. i can print any graphic that you want from 'Murica to the Osama pros. Im not sure of price, the material is more expensive than you standard 220 vinyl, but let me know what you think.

My only concern with this would be if the companies are OK with it. They put the work into the skis and the design on them is kind of like advertising for them. If they are cool with it I would definitely be interested in it. The Osama Pro's are just too tempting.

Doesn't matter if they are okay with it. Once you buy the ski it is yours to do with as you please.

Yeah this leads me to wonder if any small companies such as J-skis or on3p will ever offer custom top sheet design for like $1500 a pair. And all the skis would be 1/1.

You could draw your design onto a template and then email it to OP to print it off.

This is a nice idea OP, it would be cool if you could post up some pics of your past work.

This seems like a good idea. But from reading this thread, it sounds like the real problem is that a ski company hasn't made Osama pro models yet.

thanks everyone for your interest. I wanted to add pictures when i first made the thread but i couldnt find any pics of the skis i have put top sheets on before. so i am putting one on right now, unfortunantly i am a complete noob at trying to get pics to upload on here. there is a pic of a trailer in my profile, i am using left overs from that job to wrap some old mogul skis. and yes this stuff sticks well in the cold i also uploaded a snowmobile we did last year. if some one can embed those i would bestow much karma upon you.

ok so here are pics. hopefully they will load and be visable.
i am putting new graphics on some sweet old rossi moguls i had lying around.

I can make some for you and you can sharpie the top sheets if you'd like. Only catch is that the skis are a little spendy... they retail for 900-1000 depending on the model but I could get you a deal for 650. I know, it's still expensive but they are pretty high quality

650 seems like a decent price to me, I don't have the money right now but I will message you when I have saved up. Is the design a top sheet or did you actually make the whole ski?

I build the skis and I laser engrave the top sheets (we use bamboo, engrave custom designs in, then cover it with silicon), but if you want I can give you one of our bamboo top sheets and you can go at it with a sharpie like this guy did. Also I can interchange the different skis with different camber shapes if you would like. We are trying to get to the point where we we can make a ski that the customer can completely customize, from sidecut to camber shape all the way through the design on the ski.

I also noticed on your profile that you are from Colorado, which is where we manufacture (Denver). This would make it easy for me to get you the top sheets, and if you would like, it's possible that you could come down to the shop and help put together some of the parts of your ski. They are pretty sweet skis. I wish the price was a little lower and I'm working with the owner on it, but for now I have the deal that I can hook people up with.

props for the guys at grace skis, but im not talking about making skis with new custom topsheets, im talking about making a topsheets for the skis you already have.

I priced out everything last night and i can do a topsheet for $75, $100 if you have fat powder boards.

I can print anything you want as long as you have the design, if you just have an idea, i can make the design for you but i charge. and yes i can do custom sharpie art.

i can also get you clear material if you have art on your skis and you want to protect it (think like a screen protector for your phone, it takes the scratches)

And I am an awful artist so maybe me designing my own sharpie ski wouldn't go that well....

Yeah you ca film it if you'd like and we can put a custom laser engraved design on your skis, only reason I wouldn't do that is because its an extra $50 as opposed to just doing it with sharpie, which I don't think we would charge anything for.

Would there be any way that I could test out the skis first? Like do you do any rentals for a day? I know they will look sweet but they need to ski sweet also haha

Yeah we have some demos in the shop. I could probably grab some for next weekend if you'd like to try them out. I assume you ski in summit county?

the vinyl i use is arlon 8000. i use it for snowmobiles, dirt bikes, and on buildings. its pretty durable and can take a beating, cold and snow doesn't really effect it once its one.
i laminate it and it that also makes it scratch resistant. its not going to stop you from taking chunks out of your top sheets but if will still hold if you cut it.

BEFORE ANYONE BUYS THIS know that if you cover your ski in whiteout it will stick to the topsheets, never come off, and keep sharpie ink. you can even graffiti your skis after applying whiteout. shit never comes off.

Sorry to jump on an old thread ... But how do you put the top sheet onto the old skis? Do you have to use a press? And do you use an epoxy, resin, and hardner mix? Any info is greatly appreciated! Thank!

Will this vinyl hold up to chipping? because skis hit each other way more than cars ever come into contact with anything, at it seems like it would add quite a bit of weight...
