i agree that they are clever writers and know whta they are doing. i just feel that the past like 2-3 season havent been the same experience for me.

well that's your opinion. personally i think tying themselves to a cyclical thing like that makes the shows painfully topical. it's like a late night show in a different format-- and they did just fine back in the day without that as a crutch

They are appealing to a larger demographic by making the show "current". They talk about things that are going on in the world today and it makes more people than just south park fans watch. My dad is a perfect example, older guy who never even thought about watching a show like south park. But he has watched a few episodes about Obama and other things and has started to watch the show regularly.

yeah, i mean apparently it works for them, so boo hoo for me that i don't enjoy them anymore

also part of it is that i categorically dislike political humor. makes no difference if it agrees with my leanings or not. political opinions are already painfully ignorant and reducing it even further to jokes is intellectually dishonest IMO
