Torin Has Passed Up Tom

Just watched the Armada Windells edit and I have to admit...I think Torin's style is now #1 as far as comp skiers goes. The kid has always been good but really seems to have had some good influence from style riders. Glad to see he's gotten out of the stunt ditch a bit.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say double Gold Pipe & Slope.

I still like Tom best and definitely take gold for slope but Torins my second favorite style wise for sure

Actually I think Torin's SS style has just started to evolve.  He can do all the tricks like a Mo Fo and Spin like a crazy man, but his style shows up more when he's chilling in the park.  He will get more and more style in Slope.  He grew up chasing all those ATA dudes in Aspen.  He knows about style.

Look at the last Half Pipe super skier from Aspen.  Charlie Lasser doesn't throw mad tricks any more but he's got mad style.  Torin will put his style into his big tricks soon, he already does it in most of his HP runs.  Aspen put out some sick skiers.

Torin has a left dub 12 I think and he'll probably learn a lot more quickly, but you're right, Tom has the edge as far as left tricks go.

Because he doesn't do big slopestyle comps so he doesn't need the unnatural spins. What he does already looks so sick with so much style that it doesn't matter.

But they're saying that if Torin starts to compete in slopestyle he is going to need more unnatural tricks to get high scores with the judges.

You don't need to when you're doing some of the most impressive shit ever seen in an urban environment.

And comparing Tom and Torin is like comparing beer and heroin. They both put you in a good mood and a bit too much of either will make you black the fuck out.

Gold in pipe possibly, him or Wise. Gold in slope? No. There are so many talented Slopestyle skiers who have much more experience competing in Slope. Goepper, Wallisch, Woodsy,Henrik,Henshaw,Brown, Sammy,Hatviet,Gus and the list goes on. Tom still has the smoothest style with a natural, effortless flow in my unbiased opinion

i don't understand why judges care so much either, the only thing i can think of is cause it shows more variety... but to me a trick to the left is the same as a trick to the right.... as long as you're not throwing the same trick with the same grab over and over, i don't see why you should be at a dissavantage...

Torin is still 17 and he has always had sick style. Riding with the armada crew has definitely rubbed off though and thats not a bad thing!

Tom definitely has a few more years in him. As we all saw (should have at least) in The Wallisch Project, he bagged two different triples(as much as I hate triples), he's got the bios, and his urban game is still extremely impressive. Torin has a ways to go before he gets to the level of Wallisch, but he will definitely be leading the pack in a few years.

This may be a stupid question, but I don't pay a lot of attention to pipe competitions. Is there a chance we'll see nose butter corks in the pipe this year? I'm not sure people have ever done it or if it would even be possible. But they would make the competition a whole lot sicker

they've been around for around 9 years since Candide did one in Anomaly, Rob Heule does them when he competes pipe and torin and henrik do a lot of them for film.

edollo torin and tom. at least one will be on their olympic podium respectively too early for predictions? These three are the three who have proven they are the best at mixing high level tricks with personal style. Woodsy should be included as well. torin needs to not ever get hurt and he will be on top for the next four years.

Well it's not the same because one trick you are spinning to the right and one trick you are spinning to the left. It makes a run a lot more interesting. That's why there is different axis and switch as well. It's the same concept. A run would get really boring if it was just corks to the right all the way down, right? Now add a different axis, a switch trick, and a trick to the right and you have a really cool run whether it's in a comp or a T2B. If you look at skateboarding, you would not be respected at all if all you could do were regular and fakie kickflips because you are only using one foot. Switch and nollie make a skateboarder interesting to watch. That is why P Rod is so good because he can do any trick any way.
