Park Ski Tunning

Hi. I recently purchased my first pair of park skis and have a couple questions about tunning. Many people say you detube the underfoot with a gummy stone at a 45 degree angle. Some people say do not detube the underfoot. Some say to use a file and then a gummy stone to smooth it out. All I want to know is how should I tune my skis if I plan on hitting rails and boxes this season?

if you detune your edges you are going to end up with fewer edge cracks from boxes/rails

if you don't detune, you risk catching and cracking your edges your first hit.

that being said, i barely detune, just run a file underfoot tryin to round off the edge to knock the sharpness off and let skiing take care of the rest

This I never detune my skis and I've never gotten any cracks from not doing this, just take it easy and avoid wood and pvc the first week or two and you should be fine. The only reason I would detune is if you just got new skis and are doing a comp or urban sesh and don't want to risk catching an edge.

detune non-pure twintip company skis like salomon

those skis dont take kindly to rails versus every line armada 4frnt before/after

Detune underfoot and a few centimeters in front of and behind the bindings with a file then a gummy stone. Leave the tips and tails as they are, you can even tune them if you want to. Don't just simply buff your edges up with a file, too many kids do that, you'll do more harm than good to your skiing experience.
