I'm an assistant manager of the terrain parks at a small mountain in CT. Because it's a small mountain part of my job is also marketing, mainly on social media (because I'm on the hill more than our marketing director, so I can get pictures and videos as they happen). Therefore I'm recording in any and all conditions, from blue bird skies at noon to snow making conditions at 5am and everything in between, I'm taking pictures and videos on my phone (you can check out skisundown on instagram [
http://instagram.com/skisundown ] to see the pictures we've taken and that'll give you even more of an idea of the conditions).
As far as brightness, it helps, but not too much. Covering the top of the screen with your hand can also help...but I mostly just guess when I'm taking shots if I can't see the screen, I've taken so many you just kinda know whats in view and what isn't.
