NS I need your advice.

So in April I had surgery on my left knee for a full ACL tear and meniscus tear. Im now over 6 months post op and my physio has cleared me to start skiing this week, My problem is i just got invited to a pretty big competition here in the UK with large gnarly rail features. (big down rail and donkey kink over stairs, big urban style butter bow/wall ride with huge drop and some other large urban style features.)

What i'm worried about is if my knee would be ok for shredding hard in a comp format. Theres a big difference between skiing and throwing down in the park. My physio doesn't really know anything about park skiing so doesn't understand the difference between just skiing and riding park.

So what i'm pretty much asking is if anyone who has recovered from knee surgery can give me there advice on how long it took them to start throwing down again after they started skiing.

I dunno about competing. personally, I would hold off and ride easy for two more months. I tore my ACL last winter and then started playing again too soon and now I'm recovering from the redo surgery as I type, so i'm out for this winter, don't be me.
It'd be such a bummer if it was too much for your knee to handle and you ended up wasting the whole season instead of the first month or two

Don't rush it. It will NOT heal correctly if you do.

Hold off. It's not worth it.
Knee injuries aren't something we, as skiers, can take lightly. If value skiing at all you will take it easy for a while. You'll thank yourself when you're 40.

had the same surgery, completely torn through ACL and 50% through MCL.


Don't do it man, please don't do it. It's not enough time, it was closer to a full year for me before I felt comfortable starting to get back into that sorta thing. And that was after months and months of physical therapy plus tons of lifting weights on my own to strengthen my legs and the surrounding tendons, etc.

I know it sucks to hold off, but you'll be glad to did. Keep re-habbing your knee and your legs and you'll come back stronger than ever
