I wouldn't be shocked, this is a bit different. Some jailbreaks are as simple as entering in a website address on an iphone and hitting one button that says "jailbreakthisiphone".
Just seems a little excessive to charge people to install software that developers worked to create for free. I don't have an issue with it, just curious what other people thought of it.
Its like charging someone to install shredsauce haha. In fact if anything, I'm slightly surprised that people have access to iPhones but still spend $70 instead of ten minutes to figure out how to jailbreak haha.
you're forgetting the average iphone user only got the phone because it was pretty. they're not going to know how to do this on their own. i don't see what the big issue is with this guy charging for it
people are fucking dumb. I don't have an issue with him charging people for this service. If they're too dumb to figure it out for themselves, then hey, whatever. I do feel $70 is a bit steep though. However, if they don't mind paying it....it is their money after all.
You think $70 is steep for unlocking a phone? Try $2,000 for packing for a vacation. My friends friend started a business out of NY where she travels to peoples houses, all paid for by the person, and gets paid $2,000 to pack someone for a vacation. Does all the research on what type of clothes they will need and everything.
it's really not that ridiculous...i charge a $100+parts flat fee for fixing computers...usually ~1 hour of work. people are glad to pay for IT services, especially if dude is trusted and offers a guarantee
that is absurd. some people advertise on craigslist near me for jailbreaking, usually under $20 though, which is reasonable if you just want it done, but if you can't figure it out, you likely won't be able to take advantage of jailbreaking either. There is another place near me that does factory unlocks for $20, I got one done when I had a 4s simply because I didn't want to worry about upgrading the software or anything while I was studying abroad.
