Dale's edit won, and while i think it was close between him and McNutt, both edits were pretty epic, and Dale earned is 100g's

However apparently the Deer Valley Retirement Home just got internet access, and the nice readers of unofficial don't seem to agree.


If there is a more uneducated community of skiers, I haven't seen it.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "all big mtn riders", that's like saying Dales was a park edit. a bunch (including mine) were far more trick-influenced, with jumps and other features, not just "big mountain" lines.

the way the athlete category voting was, it would have been impossible to score dale low unless you were cheating. the categories were style, creativity and skiing level, all of which dale killed it at. his edit was fucking sick, and personally speaking with many other finalists while I was in Jackson, it was a unanimous opinion that he killed it. for the people that had no tricks, (Elise for example), even though it was a very high level with great style, especially for a woman, I feel like she probably collectively was scored lower on creativity for that reason. not trying to hate here, that's just the reality of how the voting/judging was set up.

Huge ups to Dale and all the 4bi9 guys, the edit was amazing, from skiing, filming, and obviously editing, it was fucking rad and I can't wait to see what they produce with a huge amount of cash injected into their future aspirations.

Wow, this is pretty interesting. I agree with you. If those are the three categories I don't see how any edit that was primarily composed of big mountain lines could possibly win.

Don't get me wrong, Dale's was the best edit, but if you were to imagine a scenario where there was big mountain skiing that was top quality and there was a tough call to make as to whose edit was better overall this would be a serious issue.

Haha... Well look at it again, seriously. OP pretty much states that if you don't 100% agree Dale's edit was the hands-down best in the contest, you're obviously a dust-farting retard that never made it past the 4th grade. Sorry but I don't agree with that at all, hence the "get fucking bent".

All I did was explain exactly why it would be completely understandable for people who aren't into urban skiing to think it's strange/bullshit that Dale's edit won out of all of them. Dan took offense- which I can understand - and my stupid took over and a rant was had which completely overshadowed my actual point which was "No, it actually makes perfect sense that the Unofficial crowd doesn't like it and fuck you for the half-assed gloat OP".


Now please downvote the fuck out of this post so it matches my others because Logan is 100% correct in that I am a biased granola munching fuckstain- just like you're all biased fruit booting tune ruiners ;)

to be honest i wasnt even the least bit offended, i was just trying to explain it from my point of view

i'm also glad/impressed nick responded the way he did, it helped to clear up a lot of confusion, much appreciated.

um no. My issue was more with the unofficial crowd questioning dale's work ethic and the skill that skiing urban and park takes. Personally i do think Dale's was the best, but not by a ton. Nick's was very close in my eyes, and i have no issue if you think his was better. Just don't say Dale's sucked.

The contest really could have gone any way when it came to the finals. The contest did the right thing by removing all the popularity, internet hype away from the final decision. It was left up to the finalists and I think that was the best way to achieve a fair result. McNutt, Colter Hincliffe, or Sam Cohen all could have taken the top spot.

I get what Huck Norris is getting at in some aspects. Dale murdered in that edit and there's no question about it. But even before reading this thread I had noticed each shot was just showing how well he can fly through the air or how well he can grind a rail. I was also hoping to see how well the guy could ski down some gnarly shit! I mean he had a good number of pow shots in the edit, but they where all booters and (mostly) one-hit features. I just felt like the winning edit would have more "skiing" in it... But that's a whole other argument. I'm not complaining that Dale won, I honestly do feel he deserved it. However, if I was to be behind the camera/editing, it would've been in my best interests to include some other styles of skiing.

Dale Talkington had the edit that stood out from the others in the Co-Lab contest IMO. We're all used to thinking that TGR only cares about big mountain skiers, but they do, in fact, have a few street skiers in their movies, most of them probably from Stept. Dale's and McNutt's edits were most popular than a lot of other edits that were in the Co-Lab contest, and now since the winner was decided, a lot of us are bickering about who deserved to win.

TL;DR: Stahp bickuring pls.
