I'm looking to get into backcountry skiing this year and I've essentially narrowed it down to these to packs. Any preferences or other suggestions?

Dont know enough about the Osprey to say anything specific about it but I rode with the Heli pro DLX this season in Whistler and I was more then happy with it. Its comfy lightweight and durable. Really good diagonal ski carry for hiking, and all the essentials needed. It has a great shovel pocket in the front and my fairly large ortovox shovel fits with room to spare.

Heli pro is my go to backpack for everything. Cable ski carry really helps alot! Dunno anything about the osprey one though...

My Dakine Pro II was one of the best purchases I've ever made. Its basically the Heli Pro with a lot more features and pockets. Could not ask for more in a backcountry pack.

Ive got the heli pro dlx and have used it for some side country and hiking. I'm not familiar with the osprey. Both ski carry options are good and as long as you really only using it for keeping your shovel and probe, some food & hydration and other essential stuff its good but there isnt much separation within the 2 large pockets for smaller stuff. The goggle and hip strap pockets are ok but some inner pouches would make it just that bit better
All times are Eastern (-4)
