So, this is going to be my second season. Being that I've already been bit by the skiing bug, I got my hand on this seasons Liberty Team Editions already. I got the 178's but I'm still saving up for both boots and a jacket. http://store.libertyskis.com/p/lte-1?pp=24
Anyone got any suggestions on jackets/boots? I was thinking FT Tom wallisch's any thoughts?
With boots its best to go and get fitted, by just buying online or of the shelf without seeing a boot fitter you gamble on a boot working with your feet. If you go and see a fitter they will sort you out with a boot that works best for you, allowing you to maximise you skiing enjoyment and progression. I always try not to look at boots online before seeing a fitter so I go in with as few preconceived ideas about what boots I need as possible. If you go in with an open mind and really listen to the fitter, you'll come out with the best result. (sorry if there's sections of this that don't make sense, I'm on mobile.)
The only problem I have with this is that there isn't a fitter for hours in any direction. And if I happen to see a said fitter, would I have to buy the boots from him? I work at a sporting goods store and can get hook ups on pretty much anything...
Well with boots you don't have much option but to see a fitter. You can't really fit yourself. Don't forget your not just buying boots either. You will want the boots fitting to you and you will also need some kind of footbed. The saving you may make wont be as big as you think. Getting boots fitted can get expensive if you don't buy in the shop doing the fitting. And you need a good fitter to make the footbeds.
My main mountain last season as Mountain High. They don't have a full shop. Next choice is Big Bear or Mammoth but that's going to be a ways off. I have my skis as they came in last thursday and I have bindings but the last piece in the puzzle is a boot (which I'm still kind of lost about)
Width is only one aspect. Instep height, heel width, medial arch height ect all come into play. Just because some one had a similar looking foot to you does not mean they have a similar working foot to you. Go get fitted and see what boots will work for your foot.
