Hello there! This is my first post in this great forum, so in the first place I want to say hi to all of you! Secondly I was hoping if you guys could help me with my decision.
I’m from Argentina, so I’m always skiing here in the different resorts we have, but for you to know I usually ski in Bariloche where the snow conditions are similar to Lake Tahoe, the snow is very wet and if it doesn’t snow we can have a lot of icy conditions. We also have some tight trees to ski in.
Since I have been to Vail this last season and travelling again this winter, I was considering buying either one ski quiver or two different type of skis to enjoy the entire season up there, but also use them back here. (I’m staying 3 months in Vail)
Before going into my options I would say that I’m a very aggressive skier, I skied since I was 3 years old, I’m 21 now. I am 5’11 and 170 lbs and since we don’t have too much backcountry terrain here, I usually spend my days on groomers charging really hard with my piste skis, and if the snow conditions are good enough or simply im in the mood I rent some pair of twin tip skis, to take them into some off piste terrain or into the park.
So that being said in case of buying one ski quiver I was thinking of next season Armada ARV ti, cause I read they put a new top and bottom layer of titanal, making the old ARV more solid and better on groomers, specially at high speeds but also added a Nose rocked profile for better flotation in powder.
On the other hand in case of buying two pair of skis I was thinking about a more particular park/ groomer ski, and another all mountain/powder oriented ski.
I was thinking about the AR7’s (181 cm) and the JJ’s but I have two main concerns here.
In the first place I don’t know if the AR7 would hold perfectly on edge when carving really hard on groomers as the ARV ti would, cause im looking a ski to take into the park but that can ski perfectly groomers. In the second place in case of getting the JJ’s I don’t know if getting the 185 or the AK 195. Since it’s a ski that already ski very short I don’t know if the 185 would be to short for me, cause some reviews sais that the 185 could be a little bit unstable at high speeds. But im also concerned about the 195 being to long for me. I would practically use the JJ’s on Vail Back Bowls / Blue Sky and in some trees there, and also here back home.
So please I would really appreciate if you could help me with all my concerns, specially about the performance of the AR7 on high speed groomers, and the issue about the size of the JJ’s.
I’m picking skis only from armada cause I have a really good deal on them.
Thank you very much.
Sorry for the long post and my bad English.
