Are you actually going to be backcountry skiing or hiking inbounds to side-country? If you are going into the backcountry do you have a beacon, probe, shovel, training
, and friends with the same? Because that shit isn't optional.
As far as boots what are you looking for? Something beefy that you can ski inbounds or a touring specific boot? Your best bet is to go into a shop, tell them what your looking for, and have them find out what boots fit you the best.
Here's a tip: instead of wearing an avalanche beacon just put a dog treat in your jacket.
That way, when the search and rescue dogs find your body, they can have a little treat.
