Quantaray 18-55 for nikon??

Looking for a good lens for a nikon d3100 and I'm trying to keep the cost low. Is this any good?

this lens is 18-35 btw

and i wouldnt recommend that lens. Anything under 200-300 is going to be a shitty lens unless its a vintage prime lens.

It's a rebadged Sigma, they rebadged lenses for Ritz camera under the Quantaray name.

I've only ever heard bad things bout it.

Well I don't have the camera yet, but I was wondering if it would be good to buy just the body and the lens to hopefully save money?

Maybe if it's a zoom...

I personally would never call something like the Plastic Fantastic 50mm a shitty lens (which by and large is no worse than the 1.4 - if not actually better)... nor the Nikon 35 f1.8.

both can be found for well under 200, easily.

Quite a bit. It's basically just a kit lens with the last 20mm of the zoom chopped off. It's no faster, nor is it any higher quality in either build or optics.
