Bindings for new skier

Hey guys,

first time poster. I've been on skis for 2 years now I'd consider myself a midlevel level 2 skier. (a little green in the experience department). I am 21 weigh around 165 lbs. I recently purchased 2013 armada t-halls. I need a binding to use with them. I'll be riding mostly groomed, park, and some alpine. Don't really have a budget as I plan on getting into skiing as a serious hobby and am looking for a binding that I can use on bigger hills than my native one.(get what you pay for) I live in eastern canada but plan on making trips to larger mountains in the near future. I wear a size 12 shoe which I believe translates into a 30 in mondo but I know that will depend on whatever boot I purchase (yet to do). Any advice is greatly appreciated guys.

1. Go to a bootfitter to get boots. Tey will put you in one that fits you. Don't just buy a popular one off te shelf

2. Bindings: any decent 12 or 14 din will be fine. Px12, sth12 driver, fks 120, or their 14 din counterparts

Buy a really good fitting boot from a goot bootfitter. They are worth it.

Not only will a good fitting boot feel better it will make you a better skier. Get some full custom footbeds. It will be worth the extra money.

Any 12 din good binding will do well ( rossi axial 12/look px 12, Salomon sth 12 driver, marker griffion.) The only time when boot size comes in to play is AT bindings as they come in certin sizes.

This year I rented skis as I wasn't able to get mine in on time and they were putting me on a 5 din and I thought I was popping out premature quite frequently. I know everyone is different, but what do you guys think my low DIN should be on my bindings. Also should I get my boots or bindings first.

What is your height, weight, boot size, and skier level (1,2,3,3+). You need all of that to figure out your din. Also it doesn't matter what you get first, unles you are on a budget, in which case get boots first (spend more on boots because they are the most important piece of equipment)

Boots. As said above boots are the most important piece of ski gear. I could ski on sub par skis all day and not care. Trying to ski in poor fitting boots is hell. Causes so much more problems.

Spend lots money on boots at A GOOD Bootfitting Store you can go to. Ideally a store closer is better so they can work on it if issues arrive.
I ski in Colorado and get my boot fitted in Minnesota where I grew up.
Ask in forms where to go. I sure someone can help you out and find a good shop somewhat close.

you need to get fulltilts and fks, If you don't you will never be cool.

as everyone else says for boots, just go to a shop and get them fitted. As for bindings, I think you would be good with eather a salomon sth 14 or a marker griffon. These bindings are reasonably light, not too expensive, and decent skiing bindings for your skill level. Until you get into a higher level of skiing you wont need (or be as safe in) a big, metal, bear trap of a binding like the FKS.

Bootfitter as others mention'd but for bindings i would stray away from the fks120 and marker griffons, those have plastic toes and arent super safe, if you can source a pair of fks 155's theyd be really good but if not look for sth14 sth916 or sth16, and even tyrolia peaks are great bindings
