Is Trew Gear worth the cost?

so i was looking at buying some new gear for this season and a bro recommended that I look at Trew since its technical gear kinda like Patagonia but ski oriented. I was looking on their website and its like 400 bucks for a jacket and 300-400 dollars for a pair of pants. The gear looks pretty sick and high quality but i am little skeptical of their prices bcuz they seem extremely expensive? any recommendations?

It's the shit. This years stuff is their least quality stuff in a while so wait until next year(this coming year) or buy one off gear trade. They warranty their shit like good dudes.

Where do you ski? do you need it? I ask this because if you don't ski on the west coast it can be a little over kill. Especially if you live in Colorado.

i ski mostly in the interior in BC and hood and bachelor in oregon a few times a year.

If price is an issue check out Bloom Outerwear, a mate of mine got a pair of pants from them in the wrong size so he sold them to me and they're amazing. They're super cheap as well, like $100 currently I think.

I took a shower in my Trew jacket with my computer on my chest just to show my dad what waterproof means. The stuff will last forever. Something like 75% of their stock is sold at a discount though, check around for some good deals.

Good stuff, little pricey but worth it. I have some cl purple pants for sale. Really cheap.

The trew pants keep me dry at Revy all season and roger's. The super fabric around the pants cuff is really nice, mine rip a little bit but it's not bad. The only downside was that they are heavy for long hike and don't breath enough.

I bought a like new Trew jacket on NS this summer for $100. couldnt be more stoked to wear it, and the price was too good to be trew (ha)

Let me tell you right now, spending money on high end outerwear that has function, fit and durability at the forefront of it's design philosophy will never be a bad decision. I have a lot of Arc'Teryx, Norrona and Millet gear and you seriously get what you pay for. They are miles and miles away from even companies in the middle like Columbia, TNF and MH. So yeah, my vote is to go for it- you will not be disappointed and if you are the guys at TREW will take care of you.

11/12 and 12/13 were not the best for trew quality. Wrinkled seam tape, pockets blowing out, etc. From what I've heard they picked their shit back up this year.

Some of the best outerwear out. The 12/13 fabric was great the 13-14 stuff is amazing. If you can afford it I would get the brand new stuff. But really any way you go you will be happy

I tried on one of the jackets last year and the fit was very very strange. I was very #disappoint, I don't remember which jacket it was unfortunately.

The fit of all the jackets have had a few minor tweaks to them for 13-14. They are on point now!

The Camo stuff this year actually looks so nice, I really dig Trews look this year. Would consider getting some if the pants were a bit slimmer and I had more to spend on outerwear!

It is worth the cost, just like Patagonia

but go into a shop that sells it and make friends with the guys there, they occasionally authorize some pretty sweet discounts for distributors

Patagonia, trew and no one has mentioned arc'teryx, these are all very high end brands and are definitely worth the money. If you take care of what ever you get it will last you a really long time.
