Well here we go again. The season begins August 18th, but there's still plenty going on in the meantime!


Transfer season is in full swing, with various sources reporting everything under the sun with absolutely no basis.

And seemingly every team is going on tour of somewhere, because evidently teams like Norwich need to bolster their support in places like southern California and Malaysia.


Will Manchester United keep the title?
Will Manchester City not be a mess?
Will Chelsea's Jose Mourinho get himself sacked by Christmas?
Will Arsenal be stuck waiting another season to win a trophy?
Will Tottenham finally get a champions league spot?

Here's to a hopefully entertaining season with plenty of great action leading up the BRAZIL 2014!

As do I. Sunderland is a risky place to go, but I think he'll have decent service from Sessegnon and Johnson. He was super consistent last year and I think this season could be the true turning point of his career. He is only 23, afterall.

every bit with the assistant coach was excellent.

NBC is definitely hyping up their coverage. Hopefully they don't drop the ball on this one.

Soldado signing is confirmed, 26 million. Pretty big statement from spurs. Would be interesting to see him and bale together, but probably not but.
Another bid for Rooney rejected. 25 million plus add ons, not sure what they were but. Suppose it could only be a player. luiz or Ramires maybe???

Overpaid for Soldado IMO. He has had a few good years, but not much on the international stage nor anything against great competition. I feel like Bale would appreciate his head in the area though.

Am I the only baffled by the amount that is being offered for Rooney? How could he be worth so little?

Agreed. They should just let him go to Arsenal because if what he said was true (about the contract signed that he would be free to move if Liverpool didn't make champions league), then they'll loose him either way. They should just save the embarrassment and let him go.

Him and Remy as well. If Rooney ends up leaving Man U, I have a feeling he is gonna tear the league apart. Maybe all he needs is a change of scenery and a little motivation to get him back to his old form.

Hi all. Was in the previous seasons thread so naturally I had to join the new seasons!

Should be an interesting season ahead with 3 new managers taking charge of 3 of the "Top 4" in the Prem. If Tottenham can keep a hold of Bale, with the signings they have made so far, they are probably going to be definite contenders for the Champions League Positions.

It'd be stupid to do that. The bid is so ridiculously high for someone that has only proved himself to be a top tier player for one season. I think they need to let him go while they can and use the profit for a stronger defense.

I think that was more of a verbal agreement than actually in the contract. The contract issue from what I can tell is the supposed release clause. Any bid over £40,000,000 should have automatically granted the bidding club the rights to talk to/sign him. (hence why Arsenal bid £40,000,001)

Liverpool however aren't letting him go or even talk to them. If the clause exists, this is a huge breach of contract because they're pretty much forcing him to stay.


I think he'll probably end up at Arsenal, one way or another. He doesn't want to play for Liverpool anymore, and he's made that very clear. Keeping him would be a huge mistake for them.

If they do keep him though, don't be surprised to see him out injured often, not scoring, etc.

This so much. How Spurs fans fail to see what they could get with all that money is ridiculous. Sure you can't get an identical replacement, but the amount of talent they could get is stupid.

If a release clause exists, and Arsenal met it, there's nothing Liverpool could have done to keep him, so that can't be it.

And, yeah, Spurs would be stupid not to take 100+ million for Bale or whatever it is

Always a good read this thread. Should be a great season.

Predictions from me:

1.) Chelsea
2.) Arsenal
3.) City
4.) United
5.) Spurs
6.) Swansea


18.) Stoke
19.) Hull
20.) Crystal Palace

Norwich (as much as it pains me to say as and Ipswich fan) , Swansea and Southampton to have good seasons. Whilst West Ham, Sunderland and Fulham will not.

Without Suarez Liverpool will be 8th or lower

Arsenal and Suarez both seem convinced this clause is real, and yet liverpool didn't allow him so who knows...

£100 million for Bale would be a sweet deal. Spurs have been close enough to the CL that they can attract bigger name players under the pretense of TRYING to make the CL.

By comparison, Liverpool probably are desperate to keep Suarez because no matter how much they get for him, they aren't going to be replacing him with a top notch elite player.

^ That's very realistic and it worries me as Arsenal continues to keep their hands up their asses and not sign anyone.

Good to hear about Remy, I really like him as a player. Unfortunate about that case against him.

Anyone see Ronaldo and Real Madrid go off against Chelsea? Casillas made Mourinho look like a fool with the quality of saves he made while Ronaldo did his thing and even hugged some crazed fan lol. Entertaining game for sure.

Ronaldo getting hugged was fucking hilarious. There was really nothing he could do about it without looking like a dick and pushing the guy off.

And as a Chelsea fan I was pretty disappointed with the quality of defense. Letting CR7 have a header while everyone just stood there was horrendous

^That game was probably the best 'friendly' I've ever seen.

Gomis to Newcastle(not sure if it's official yet). I like that he's coming to the PL, but who's gonna start up top now?

Not sure why people are getting all hyped on Spurs, Soldado and Paulinho aren't going to make them elite. Their defense is suspect and even their midfield still has a lot of questions to answer.

one thing tottenham has over the top 4 is definitely in goalkeeping. Hugo Lloris is amongst the best in the world and I think that became clear last season.

Joe Hart can be iffy, as can De gea (attribute that to youth). Szczesny will probably be elite but he's still young. And Cech is starting to show signs of age. (He can still put out amazing performances, but he's clearly not in his 20s anymore)

With Bale I think they've got as good a chance as any. Without him and I think they could slip quite a bit. It's easy to forget just how many games he won them.

I think Arsenal will probably just nick it, as usual, if nothing changes. If they manage to get Suarez I'd put them down as legitimate title contenders though.

meh im not so confident in the spurs. bale won so many games in the last 5 minutes it's a little ridiculous. i dont trust the d at all although hugo is pretty good to say the least.

Yea I heard that too. I agree with him completely. Why the fuck would they pay that much for someone who isn't nearly as good as Ronaldo. I realize prices go up every year, but Bale is overrated. Hope Tottenham gets 'stuck' with him.

Well I guess Spurs haven't gotten that much better. But I look at Arsenal, who have not made a single signing yet this season and think they could be looking at a disaster - out of the top four and/or seriously off the title pace. Obviously that could all change in the next few weeks of transfer season.

Bale is overpriced. And for a team that doesn't even need him, there is no reason to waste the money. The reason they were going after him so hard was security for a possible Ronaldo departure, which I wouldn't be surprised if it happened at the end of his contract.
