Well here we go again. The season begins August 18th, but there's still plenty going on in the meantime!


Transfer season is in full swing, with various sources reporting everything under the sun with absolutely no basis.

And seemingly every team is going on tour of somewhere, because evidently teams like Norwich need to bolster their support in places like southern California and Malaysia.


Will Manchester United keep the title?
Will Manchester City not be a mess?
Will Chelsea's Jose Mourinho get himself sacked by Christmas?
Will Arsenal be stuck waiting another season to win a trophy?
Will Tottenham finally get a champions league spot?

Here's to a hopefully entertaining season with plenty of great action leading up the BRAZIL 2014!

really tragic. I hope clubs medical teams really renew their efforts to try and detect heart problems. marc vivien-foe was the first one I really noticed and ever since then it seems like 1 or 2 have a similar problem per year.

Haha for some reason I dont enjoy fantasy footbal as much as fantasy (American) football or basketball. Although I enjoy watching soccer/footbal so much more than either of those sports. I played last year and didn't check my team. Maybe cuz I only really watch gunners cuz they're are only team I record. Oh well it sounds like fun ha

I always go into it thinking it'll be a new year and I'll play close attention yada yada

by week 3 half my team is injured/suspended, and I'll never look at it again.

The report from Soccer America Daily:
Report: Spurs, Real Agree $159 Million Fee for Bale
AS

Spanish daily AS reports that Tottenham and Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement over Gareth Bale’s potential move to the Bernabeu, worth $159 million. However, the report claims that the move will not be confirmed until Spurs brings in three new signings. The first of these, Roberto Soldado, arrived at White Hart Lane from Valencia on Thursday.

The $159 million deal for Bale could also include one or maybe two of either left back Fabio Coentrao, winger Angel Di Maria or midfielder Luka Modric. Young striker Alvaro Morata was also muted as a possibility, but AS claims he is not part of the deal. The identity of the other three Spurs arrivals is not clear, but once they are confirmed, Bale will complete his expected move to Real, the paper says.

Is this for real or just more speculation? Because if its real, shit is about to go down

I hope Real gives up pursuit and leaves Spurs with an unhappy Bale. Seems like they're just playing hardball a little too much from the reported offer rumors. I know Real loves to throw down big money, but Bale is not worth near 100 million Euros

Calling it that Arsenal will not sign anyone until the next transfer window. I hope I'm wrong...

- I would have loved Gomez, he's gone.
- Didn't really like Higuain but now he's gone.
- Ibra would be heaven but it won't ever happen.
-Remy would be a great fit in my eyes. He's french and almost kept QPR up single handedly. Don't know why he isn't sold...
-Don't want Suarez. I can't stand him as a person one bit. I don't give a shit about how he plays; he's an awful person.

Premiership will look quite different with Bale going to Real Madrid and Ronaldo coming back to Manchester United. Yes I said Ronaldo is coming back, he will as soon as Bale is dealt. Real knows he won't resign a new contract so get as much as you can now.

Sorry, but, no thanks. I did it last year and it's just not that much fun doing fantasy without a draft. After a while everyone just more or less has the same exact team.

I was going to do a drafted league, but I figured many NSers would miss the draft entirely, or we wouldn't be able to pick a day. I suppose we could switch if the idea has traction among the other players in the league!

I'm stoked as a Sounders fan and as a fan of the USMNT. Brad Evans and Eddie Johnson have good chemistry as they are the same team, and that carries onto the national field.

Now that Deuce is joining Seattle, we will have a pretty good bond for the USA between the midfield (depending on where Evans will be, and if he is on the world cup squad) and the forwards.

Where I'm at with Dempsey leaving, I don't necessarily think its dumb on his part at all. Yes, he is at the peak of his career and it will continue for a while after, but I also just think he wasn't appreciated at Tottenham, even when he was producing. If this move goes forward, which it most certainly is looking like it will, he is going to be very dynamic and continue his form with Seattle.

It would be an idiotic movie IMO. Stay in England. Take a loan deal to another club in the EPL (Fulham? Everton?) and play up at that level.

Meh. He's 30 years old, it's not like he's going to be getting that much better at this point and it'll be good for the mls/american soccer in general to see a u.s. superstar coming back to the mls at (or near) the height of his powers instead of all these aging foreign stars

Dumb move imo. Anytime you have a chance to play, especially when you are actually seeing time on the pitch, in the EPL you take full advantage of it. The USMNT needs as many players as possible to get with teams overseas at this point. Playing with/against better players make you better.

Go to Everton. Go to Fulham. They would love to have him. He is still one of the more effective players despite his lack of playing time (12 goals)

Yea he should have requested a loan or transfer. I hate ti admit it, but Spurs are now contending to be top five team and he's going to have a tough time breaking into the regular rotation. I'm sure many other teams would love to have him though.

as a sounders fan im stoked! he and eddie are going to be the two top guys on the team. i can definitely see the logic in staying in the epl. seattle is probably one of the only places in the mls he would have gone too. fan base without a doubt one of the best if not THE best in the mls

Disagree with this. The US needs more players playing in Europe. Freidel and Howard are really the only American players to have ever kept a solid career, and they're both keepers. I say Dempsey could have 2 or 3 more productive seasons in Europe.

Dempsey's had a pretty solid career in Europe, as does Bradley so far.

The US also needs more good American players in the mls.
