Whats your craigslist experiences?


Just recently had a guy beg and plead with me to save a Mackelmore ticket for him to pick up

today(friday). Said he was driving 10 hrs to come so I agreed I would save it for him at a higher price

than I was selling. Today (friday) douchebag says he doesn't need it. Now its to late to sell and i could

have sold it Wed or Thurs.

really needed 70$.

I have had many people say they were comingto meet with me, but after an hour of waiting and calling after no answers they never show up or tell me they aren't going to.
I also hate when people don't put there number to call/text.
I also hate douchebags that think there car is the shit and over price it because they added some gay shit.
I hate when people put something up for trade and Don't put anything they're interested in.

i was selling some brewing equipment and this guy said he would meet me to purchase. first off he said he would be there between noon and one. so right off the bat I knew I would have to wait an hour for this dick. well he never showed up I even waited an hour and a half. then I texted this other interested party and met him within 5 minutes and he put the cash in my hand. without hearing from this other guy after calling him and whatnot after him missing the meeting time I texted him and told him I had sold the stuff. then he got all pissed.

I deal with so much shit via CL as a land lord. Now-a-days I schedule multiple groups at the same time because people always flake. I will usually send a text message about an hour ahead of time, if no response I'll call. I tell people ahead of time if I'm not willing to negotiate to save myself the trouble of showing it to them. Don't give out your address or phone number while you're still in the question asking phase of emails. Don't take it too personal, don't be a dick because u may need to deal with them in the end after all. Make them fit your schedule, I always give 2 times I'm available to meet and ask which works better for them. You don't have to respond to everything they ask, leave them hanging if you don't want to reveal something negative. Those are my general tips having used CL for a long time.


One tactic I've considered is listing fake ads for items I want, priced really low, then when someone real goes to list they see my price point. I've tried a similar technique to bring up rent values, but it's impossible to tell if it's having any effect.

Not my story, but you should have done what this guy did:

I had tickets to a sporting event and couldn't attend. I made a 1-day listing and clearly stated that the tickets must be picked up in person within 24 hours (the game was the evening after the auction ended, so there wasn't any time to ship the tickets). A woman won the auction for about $600. The auction had ended at 10:00am and by 5:00pm she still hadn't responded to my emails trying to organize the exchange. Finally, at 9:30pm, I got a one-liner email: "I overbid and my husband won't let me buy these. Sorry and enjoy the game! :)"
I first tried explaining that I wouldn't have the time to resell the tickets (I already got turned down by the losing bidders). She said, "... that's not my problem. It's eBay, not a car dealership. I can back out if I want." I still don't understand the car dealership reference.
I was pretty upset. I was basically going to be stuck with tickets to an event that I couldn't attend. That's when I got the idea to convince her to change her mind.
I created a new eBay account, "Payback" we'll call it, and sent her a message: "Hi there, I noticed you won an auction for 4 [sporting event] tickets. I meant to bid on these but couldn't get to a computer. I wanted to take my son and dad and would be willing to give you $1,000 for the tickets. I imagine that you've already made plans to attend, but I figured it was worth a shot."
At 11:30pm she responded to Payback: "I'll do it for $1,100, no less. I can meet you at the game if you agree. I need your phone number."
At 11:35pm, Payback wrote: "Deal. Here is my number..." (Thanks Google Voice for the throwaway number). She called a few minutes later and made Payback "promise" to go through with the deal. She emphasized that she'd be out a lot of money if Payback backed out. Payback swore he would never do such a thing.
At 11:45pm, the woman emailed me: "Fine. I'll buy them. But you have to drop them off at my house tonight. I'll have the cash ready." So at fucking midnight I drove to her house across town and met her on the road in front of her apartment building. She was a nasty and rude individual. Things didn't get any better when I told her I wanted an extra $20 for the trouble of driving there at midnight (yeah, pushing my luck, I know). It became very awkward and she literally threw 31 $20 bills at me. I counted them before handing over the tickets. I said, "thanks for the great transaction" as she flipped me off while walking away.
At 10:00am she called Payback to make sure they were still on for the exchange. Payback said that he could no longer go to the game and wouldn't be able to do the exchange. She blew her fucking top and I swear to god started speaking in tongues. Payback said, "Ma'am, this is eBay, not a car dealership" and hung up.
I got a rabid email 10 minutes later telling me that I was going to hell and that she's reported me to the local police, FBI, and... the fire department.

He found a better deal in the mean time, and you got burned.

i was going to buy a car from some guy an hour and a half away and after a few emails we set a time for me to come look at it. that morning i called him to let him know i was coming and he said everything was good. an hour later i text him to let him know im only 30 min away and ask him where to meet, he says in front of the store that he runs. i get there, go in and meet him and ask to see the car and he tells me that he sold it the night before.

two days later i bought the biggest piece of shit money pit of a car i could imagine. thanks random asshole from auburn

Its America ticket scalping is cool I do it professionally. I am probably the best scalper on craigslist because I buy from the teams (only do sports no concerts) and never flake out nor do I care if people flake on me.

Fact is part of the game is that buyers have other options and you have to provide your service the best you can and the potential someone flakes is part of the game and risk you take...and just like selling drugs the fact that there is risk involved is what enables you to profit.

Now I providea great service personally (and I am not a cocksucker with an I need tickets sign in the parking lot looking for extras) due to the fact that I overbuy for the events I sell via craigslist. Because I usually buy 100 or more to a game I sell via CL I can tell people "yes I'll hold them until the game for you" and continue to sell to other people because I have so many and never flake out on that dude.

Now tell me where the fuck you get service like that for sold out events particularly when you are buying the cheapest tickets possible off CL?

Most people in the ticket game are losers though I hate 90% of those cockroaches.

I do both. I hold until the game. And I sell to whoever hits me up before then. Cause if I am on CL chances are Im selling from a hotel room and probably have way too many tickets (gotta make it worth my while) and I won't be turning away any money all offers even unreasonable ones will probably be accepted.


There are some games where every single person I agree to hold tickets for and meet at the game flakes out- often probably because the price drops and they decide to just grab something off stubhub instead of going through the hassle of meeting up with me (and I have to do what I can to randoms in the parking lot.) And it has happened that for a Saturday morning football game I've made little/no sales Wed-Fri and all my sales came from meeting people who came from far away and wanted to meet before the game.

The Iowa St-Oklahoma game was like this. I had 120 tickets left to sell 2 days before the game maybe more I was shitting my pants. It was an 11am start time too which gives you a lot less time day of the game to sell. I literally sold 80 of them that saturday morning from the Best Western near the stadium I was staying at and was going out to the lobby every 5 minutes to meet someone. So if I was a dickhead and wasn't willing to put tickets aside for people I would have taken it in the ass that game.

The one final thing I will say about ticket reselling is that it goes against conventional 'Don't hate the player hate the game' logic.

Most of the guys are fucking scum in the parking lots who show up with no tickets/money, don't support the artists or teams, and just walk around looking for a sucker to sell to them for 5 bucks each. If you see a guy looking for tickets frantically at a game and he is also selling and trying to do both please spit on him and kick him in the balls. Makes it really hard for me to provide an honest service when I have scum like this as competition and to the average person he and I are doing the same thing.

But many people want to go to sold out concerts and games. Resellers allow this. If you really hate scalpers you should never to go to any game or concert that is sold out.

So like I said, don't hate the game, hate the player.

It is very close to **********. I'm glad to hear you are familiar with horses, because you will be primarily working with horses.

My farm gets all the old horses that other farms don't need anymore, and they are starting to take up a lot of room in my stable, which I want to turn into a garage for my new truck. Therefore, the horses need to go. As my assistant, you will be in charge of killing the horses and dumping them in the lake behind my farm.

I used to have a captive bolt pistol (cattle gun) that I used to put them down, but it broke when I tried to use it to tap a keg. You'll probably have to use my 12-gauge shotgun to put them down. Sometimes they don't die right away when you shoot them, and will start freaking out. You just have to stay calm and keep shooting. Don't worry, I'll show you how to use the shotgun if you aren't familiar with one.

You then need to use my chainsaw to cut the horses into smaller parts that you can carry down to the lake. It can get a little messy, so I suggest wearing some clothes that you don't care about, or some clothes that the horse blood would compliment.

The lake isn't mine, it is my neighbor's. He gets kind of angry when he sees me dumping dead horses in his lake, so you have to make sure he isn't around when you do it. I have some cinderblocks you can use to weigh the horses down so he won't see them.

I have a lot of horses, and each horse takes about an hour and a half to dispose of, so you should have plenty of work. The job will pay $15 an hour. When can you start?

I thought about it, and if you don't want to use the chainsaw to cut up the horses, you can just use my truck to drag them down to the lake. Do you have your license or permit? If not, this could be good driving practice for you. You don't want to pass up on this great job opportunity.
