I have mine mounted big mountain and I live by hills that are ice for the whole winter, having them mounted this way has no effect on your overall skiing and when I went out west it did help a bit for some of the small amounts of powder I went through, talk to someone at a local shop that carries these skis, some of those guys can be pretty knowledgeable on twin tip skis and they can really help you out.
