far cry 3 is the worst offender of this. i don't care how many golden tiger skins you harvest it is impossible for a human to swim freestyle and sprint around while carrying 4 large guns, c4, mines, grenades, 300+ rounds of ammo, arrows, and a bag containing 60+ items of any size

I wonder the same thing. Wear them or park them. In your pocket they would get scratched to fuck, especially if you have keys in there, and it would look like you have mad amounts of boner.

i see so many of these on tumblr/ other websites and 9 times out of 10 there's a knife or a multi-tool of some sort in there. i dunno if it's just me but never in the 19 years and 10.5 months that i've been on this earth have i been going about my daily business and thought "fuck i really need a knife in this situation." very few of the knives i've seen posted would be much use in self defence (plus stabbing people is like, illegal in most places) and over here im 99% sure any locking knife/ decent sized blade is illegal (to carry around with you i mean). literally the only time i've ever needed a knife of that sort is when im camping...

i havent read the whole thread and at risk of starting an argument, could someone explain this?

One time I tried to open a package with my keys and the tape got all bunched up, so I had to get a knife from my kitchen. If only I had a knife in my pocket, I could have saved myself 12 seconds. I think that's why people carry knives. Sometimes keys just don't cut it (FUCK YEAH PUN INTENDED, BITCH).

Mine is primarily used as a utility knife. Opening packages, cutting my food at work, cleaning my nails, etc. But I also have them in such a manner that it could be used as a self defense blade if needed. I've grown up having one on me at all times, so when I don't have one I feel naked.
