Memories becoming less vivid

My memories all have started to become less vivid. Ill try my best to explain it... Recently when i think of what i have done lately (like at the end of the day for example) I can remember what I did, but everything has become less clear when i try to think of it. When i was younger my memories were photographic, i could remember a lot of details. Im just wondering if anyone knows of this happening, or self experience. I think it could be from me just getting older and busier, or my eyesight becoming worse. I have Dysthymia (chronic depression) and that could be a possible cause, but i doubt it. Not a very entertaining thread for you all, but just wondering if this has happened to any of you

do you take any medications for your depression? i know that there are some meds that can certainly have this side effect.

You tend to not remember things very clearly if you don't give a damn about what's going on, also, every time you recall an event, details are dropped off, added and twisted. When you were little, everything that happened was the most interesting thing to ever happen so you remembered many details and had a clear image of what happened. I'm sure depression does have a major impact on memory, you're concerned about different things, things that are going on in your environment don't really matter to you so there are not a lot of details being stored.

Its normal for memories to become less vivid with age. About 15% of children have photographic memory, but most lose this ability as they grow. Apparently it has something to do with processing abstract thoughts over details

I have Dysthymia, a form of chronic depression that was diagnosed by my doctor. Im not just "claiming" that I have it, I know I do. A lot of people think of just being sad, when they hear the word depression. Its a lot different than that. There are different types of depression, Mild, seasonal, etc. So yes, it's a possibility that a lot of people on NS have "depression"

depression has no connection to material objects.
money doesn't buy happiness, i'm sure you've heard that one before haven't you?


your post is both stupid and ignorant. depression has to do with the way your brain functions or a lack of chemicals or abundance of them in your brain. iphones, vacations, your skin color, and your age can't "cure" someone of depression.

Worse thing you can do Is look up symptoms on the internet. I lose more and more memories as I get older. I wouldn't worry about it. If you really are concerned about it I'd schedule and appointment with your family doctor.

my memory isnt as good when i was younger too and i have depression to (i'm not just sad i actually have depression) but i also blaze almost every day.
kind of glad im not the only one on here in this boat. how old are you?

i think what 3termzobama2016 implied is that waaaay too much people claim to have depressions, or reading problems or other sort of hard-to-prove psychological malfunction with no real basis to it. i bet i could get a doctor to give me some sort of medicine to "make me happier" because literally anyone he could ask would tell him that i am never really excited and almost exclusively show negative emotions if i show them at all. people have to understand that there are thousands of shades of personalities and really no such thing as "normality".


thats definitely a fact. back in the day, there were dumb people, now they just have learning issues. or kids were just a little exhausting to deal with, "now" ADHD is on the rise.


i think too many doctors can make money with such diagnoses and probably most parents are happy too that "its not their fault" or the kids fault.

when feeling 'depressed' think about the Sun, a huge flying ball of fire; think about the size of the universe or quantum  particles. works for me to put things into perspective. or better yet, breathe easy n work to bring awareness to the breath, away from a rambling mind and into something that always is; breath.
