Skiing No Brakes=Steeze?

Well at the start of this year while jibbing some back yard in November, my buddy decided to snap off the brakes of his surface double times. His reasoning is that it is more "badass", "steezy", "thug" and "gangsta". One time this year in the park an attempt at a cork 1080 in the park went array, and his ski proceeded to hit a 50 footer and almost land on a family with small children.

So is he more "Thug" for skiing with no brakes?

Thoughts?

no your friend is dumb, i had break problems on my new halos and i almost lost one, try being thug and coughing up 500 dollars for a new pair of skis at the same time.

I sort of agree. He rides his fks 180's at 18. However ruining his bindings is somewhat of a personal choice.

Who the fuck cares what your friend likes to do with his skis? If he can cork 10 he's better than me and the vast majority of kids on this site so he must be doing something right. Fuck.

why is that even cool? at best its an inconvenience when you have to chase a ski down, and at worst its a pretty giant lawsuit when you take out a lawyers 5 year old. I guess he could use leashes? whats his reasoning behind this, and is he 12?

this happened to my dad's friends tele skis, i saw it happen. he was picking them up, dropped one, and it gained so much speed down the trail that it hit someones ski at the bottom of a race course and ripped the entire binding off it

my thought. When you're skiing rails you want that shit to release fairly early, not like 6 din, but i wouldn't with more than 10. You'd rather have a ski release from your boot than an acl from the rest of your knee

In all seriousness, if he's not being treated for that there's gonna be some issues. I knew a chick who was bipolar and she was just all over the fucking place but refused to get treated and used liquor as a substitute. Not good. Off topic though, no brakes are retarded, just wear pants so baggy it covers the brakes.

haha some kid at my mountain tore his acl doing a front 2 because he was riding with his bindings maxed out and hes like 40 lbs underweight for the model

this year I was doing a misty 5 and fell from like 30 feet on flat hard park pack and slid all the way down the park with my skis on. Only hurt my head and got a concussion. Until I fuck my knees(won't) I refuse to ride on the ridiculously low settings that shops recommend.

LOL I broke two ankles because of riding pivots on 12. Mostly on fks or pivots I adjust the din higher. On a binding like the sth 16 I have no problem riding on normal settings.

I tore my acl on STH 12's at the shop's setting of 8. I don't know your situation, but in mine the binding was not at fault. Just because the binding doesn't come off doesn't mean it was supposed to release.

In my experience, sth's are far more solid than fks/pivot as far as pre-releasing goes. I have had many problems with fks/pivots.

I've been hit twice by run a way boards from jack asses that took off the leash and dropped their boards. I can tell you it hurts alot. If I knew that some ass face lost a ski and did not have a brake (because he was trying to be Steezy) I would have a hard time keeping my cool. In fact I would have a grand old time beating his face in. Even better, If anything hit any of the kids I coach......He would be walking with a thug limp for life.
