Will the 2013/2014 Line Mr. Pollard Opus be a good backcountry ski with a Marker duke, baron, F10 or F12? Or is this ski with one of the those bindings to heavy of a setup? I'm a 5'10, 160lbs, 17 year old expert skier.. I'm wanting to get a tour setup for next year. Thanks for the comments and any other suggestions would be really helpful!
I tour around with 185 EP pros, very similair ski on a pair of dukes, not the best option thats for sure but definately not the worst, fairly heavy but i never do anything more than a day so its not that bad. Im personally looking to purchase a bit smaller waist ski something like an obsethed for longer day tours and keep my EP's for deep chair access days and slackcountry as they are the awesome skis to ski deep pow in tons of fun and playful
i have this years opuses with trackers and i love them. i believe if you find your touring setup too heavy, your legs aren't strong enough and you just need to make them stronger. they are awesome for the 3-4 hour hikes, i havent gone on anything longer. and going down hill... the best ski ever made.
It will work but you will most likely not be getting first tracks...most people tour with lighter setups but if you are strong enough to haul those around then go for it
For a first touring set up that should be fine. Most people, including myself start out on heavy set ups before moving to tech set ups. You seemed to list quite a few different bindings, this might help you make up you mind as to which one, take a look - http://aslansskiblog.blogspot.fr/2012/12/guardian-duke-epf-mfd-and-adrenalin.html
