I know it's a regional place but there's a brand new park and I wanted to spread the word. I've put a lot of time into the place this season and still tons to do in the off season. Should have a pretty legit fleet of rails to start off next year plus whatever else I end up building in the off season.

no way, i would never have thought there would be a decent park up at Oak. I spend my summers close to Speculator...never would have expected to find a park skiing scene there haha

Have a place in Indian Lake. Only problem is its not insulated, frozen nutsacks deter me from going up in winter. Park looks Nice though, keep it up

I went yesterday and had a blast! Great setup, and most of the rails were made within the last week or so, so I can't wait to see what you guys will have next year!

Yes I worked there for 3 years. It's about an hour and 10 minutes driving the speed limit- 5 over.


Not super close but not that far. Hell I was living here the years I worked at west so it's not that bad. The northway then some back road action.

Yup. Been working on stuff all season. In Feb I got some donations and was able to do a steel order and then been building rails since. Can't wait to finish everything else up, build some other stuff I'm planning, and hopefully do another large build for next season in the offseason.

There isn't a scene yet. This is where I grew up riding so it's got a soft spot in my heart forever. I used to get kicked off for building jumps all the time there years ago.

I was out for the season with a knee injury and unable to work/ride. The mountain was just bought out by Matt and Laura Obrien. They didn't have any funds or a job for me, but they basically gave me free reign to build them a park.

Started with a rail I bought off craiglist for cheap and some rails from friends. The donations came deep into the season but we were still able to get some nice things done for this comp. Hoping to really step it up a notch for next season.

I was weighing some different options for next season but Matt told me that they'll hire me for sure next season so I'm going to stick around.

Come check it out though. Tickets are cheap and the setups are going to keep getting better.

Thanks for coming out! Glad you had fun, and hope to see you in the future. I don't think they really understood what I was saying when I told them I'd build them a park. After the vibe at that contest they're pretty much down for anything so things should keep moving up for next year

Believe me that's the plan and at the top of the agenda. Getting the steel mid feb and then waiting on the mountain to get me some tools to build with took a lot of time. Also not having a crew to build with made everything take a lot longer.


I was really bummed about not having everything skirted and painted but for next season EVERYTHING will be skirted and painted. That's the problem with mid season builds. I have money that I set aside from the donations for skirting so it's def happening.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Next weekend is the last weekend of the season. Check it out. If you can't make it there's always next year. Like the park page to help you stay up to date on the off season builds.

I worked at gore and west for 5 years and although I was able to make some progress, I never really had the chance to make things happen the way I wanted them to. After the rail jam, this place is down for anything so look for new rails, some boxes, and some solid setups for next season.

Ahh. I would love to go but with gore closer...even though gore is very lacking in terms of there park I do have a season pass there and it is closer. I will look into this though

Our season ends next weekend anyway. Gore is a fun mountain. I'll probably take a couple day sessions up there.

But for next season the rates are good. They good change slightly but Matt said it's unlikely they'll change by much.


$34 - Full Day
$26 - 4 hour anytime
$15 - Full day bunny hill only
$263 - Season pass


I mentioned the bunny hill as that was the base for everything this season, and it will most likely continue to have a sick little mini lap park for next season. Idk if you're old enough to remember the gully at gore but it's sort of like that. So for $15 all day it's not a bad for taking the occasional trip to here and there even if you have passes to other mountains.

Everything was finished just in time too. It was down to the wire. Put in some LONG days the last few before the contest.

Stoked to do some off season building when the weathers warm and the sun is out.

I'm not even good enough to do all those rails so I'm real excited for next year. I am definitely gonna try and get up there. Is there like a t-bar for the park because according to the website there is 2 t-bars and a quad. Wait, why am I telling someone who works there what lifts they have? haha

The one t-bar hasn't been running as you can access all the trails from the quad and nobody does the t-bar thing these days anyway.

But yes there is a t-bar on the bunny hill and a quad for the upper mountain.

That setup was a little intense but my goal was to bring some better skiers/ riders out and turn some heads. Trying to help people justify the drive from other mountains. I'm planning on working with the guy that built boxes for me when I worked at west. The guy does phenomenal work and is just stoked because his kids ski park. We didn't have the funds this year so I help off for next season. Also hoping to do a build of some smaller rails as well as some random stuff like jersey barriers, wallrides and all that.

Check out the park facebook page as that's what I've been updating frequently with info about everything from contests, rail builds, setups, and pictures of everything.

Honestly I think what you're doing is so sick! That's so awesome that you took the initiative to start a park at your local hill. I can't believe you built all those rails yourself, that must have taken forever, and that comp setup looked dope! It would be sick to develop a solid freestyle scene there, and if you did it would be all your doing! Props man keep up the good work!

It def did. I had plans, maybe unrealistic plans of it taking a lot less time. I guess it came down to the fact that sometimes I'd have one of the local kids helping me, sometimes I'd be on my own.

Earlier in the season nobody was riding the stuff I had setup. And I had some really small stuff. Everybody's vibe was "I don't hit rails". At most place you can't get away with that really, but here there's no pressure to ever try and learn them. If the big kids don't hit them the younger kids aren't going to give them a try.

Hoping to get some decent kids out from other mountains next season to give the younger kids something to aspire to. I'll keep updating things next year as things get more legit. Having a job will def make things a little bit easier.

This is sick, I think it's a bit far from central jersey though. But a jersey barrier type of thing is fun. Mountain creek had something like one last season. It was basically a wallride, but with a tight snow quarter pipe into it, so it had the two face style a jersey barrier has.

They had a real, concrete one at one point two, haven't seen it this year.

I can't get over how I impressed I am. You seem to be attempting exactly what I wish I could do for my bull headed home mountain, also in NY.

I also personally really like the look of the raw steel, unpainted without the skirting. It's just bad ass, good work!

Those rails look sick. If you want to maybe get more rails for cheaper try getting into contact with park managers from other mountains in the area that have rails they arnt looking on using anymore. I know the mountain I work at sold some rails to a smaller mountain for pretty cheap.

Too many mountains don't care about parks. I have a soft spot in my heart for this place as I grew up skiing and riding there a long time ago.


And as far as the look. It was alright for this contest but for next year everything will be painted and skirted. It did look kind of badass but from a liability standpoint and just general look everything will be skirted and painted next season. I just had a very limited time to get a lot of stuff done.

It did give kind of a cool urban vibe to the contest though.

The price was pretty good on what we got. I got a hell of a deal on steel and building all the rails myself saved a ton of money. I did try and get some rails from some mountains that I know have some sitting around they will never use again. didn't have any luck though.

I guess they don't want to sell them to me and see them used in making our parks better than there's. Personally I think it's a waste to have a feature sitting there rotting and not use it/ sell it to somebody who will.

Especially with west and the picnic table they have rotting next to the garage. Considering it was in a group of free things we got from mount snow when I first moved down there. I'd love to buy it from them for the right price and build with it.

I also can understand some mountains that use there features not wanting to talk about selling them to other mountains. If anyone hears of any mountains getting rid of their features, I'd be down to check them out and offer them something reasonable for them. It would save me some building.

looks dope rusty. i might recommend throwing some wood on the sides so no one catches their skis underneath. ive died many times on rails with no side pieces. plus it looks classier

There's already money set aside for skirting and I've got a color scheme worked out for paint. I just ran out of time. Problems with tools made things come down to the wire. I like skirting, insurance likes skirting, so skirting it will be.

Our season ends this weekend. I'm going to finish up everything including the new elbow kink I want to build then put some mounts on all the rails, clean everything up, cut the ply, get everything set, and then paint it all.


For next season everything will be lookin good.
