I'll definitely watch this tonight... After reading a little bit about how angry most of the skiers at Squaw are about the developments I'm interested to see what the the CEO has to say.
heres the article I read a while back (obviously pretty biased but still a good read)
I think a lot of locals make Wirth out to be a whole lot bigger of a dick than he is. It's a ski resort, it's natural for a business to evolve. If anything, the Squaw locals should be grateful that a ski resort of that magnitude stayed under the development radar for even this long.
However, I do think that it was kind of demeaning how he posed as some dumbass with a mullet. Also, how his wife said that he's have to "dumb it down" to connect with the mountain employees. Not to mention this is just one big marketing scheme. Interesting nonetheless though, I guess.
this. seemed like one big SquAlpine commercial. he missed the mark on alpine too, making it seem to be a family resort with just groomers and almost like squaw's little sister mtn they bought out of pity. kind of explains the increase in grooming there this year. wirth and KSL definteily have an agenda for tahoe and it showed in this episode. some good stuff, some not so good stuff
That a perfect representation of the worker in the ski industry. Everyone at the mountain loves their job and is so dedicated to what they do. The show did not really show the teamwork involved; I found they focused too much on single people. But you can see nobody hated their boss or the administration. They show concern that the employee have towards the clientele and their position, even though they dont touch bonuses or commission.
That is what I want in life. A all season mountain job that I can save up and have income all the time while spending it outside.
The imitative is to make AM the family fun resort. Those are the ones bringing the money to the resorts. Families can be intimidated by Squaw's terrain.
Heaven forbid a company gets an employee perspective on the mountain they recently acquired. Its great research to improve it.
