North Face Ad....(Yes I know its a re-post...but...)

Just throwing it out there....I have actually stopped watching videos on NS because of the repetition of the ad. I'm in marketing myself so I understand the value of placing that ad for NS, but its really time to cut back.

I use to watch multiple videos per day...now I just don't, and I won't until there are some other ads on there.

PPPPPLELLLLEEELELLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSASSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEE change it out once in a while.

How can all of you guys complain SO MUCH about something that generates so much revenue for the website? You guys act like you HAVE to watch the ad, you dont! switch tabs, go to facebook for a minute, look at some hot chicks, make fun of your friend, switch back and it the last two seconds of the ad! unmute your computer and then enjoy the video you're going to watch.

Or, as doug would say, would you guys like to start paying for the website?

Just saw the FD boobie ad. I can tolerate ads b/c I know it generates revenue for the site, but stuff like this seriousely makes me so mad. I want to be able to browse NS in a public place without worrying that boobies are suddenly going to be on my screen for everyone else in the room to see.

I just think TNF shot themselves in the foot by doing a 30 second preroll, it may have turned more people off of them rather than onto them. NS is just unfortunately caught in the middle of this providing a service for both us, its users and its advertisers who want their ads to show before videos.

someone should do a commercial where it starts as the north face commercial for like 2 seconds and then is like just kidding and says their companies name and is like 5 sec long, i would love whoever did that. or with that vitimin water commercial.

I understand that ads are important but please fix the CoC one! Add lasts for like 2 minutes and i know its not just the shitty NZ internet.

I donated to the site, and I still do not use adblock on NS. It's not that big of a deal to switch tabs when an ad is playing, honestly.

You guys make a good point. NS does deserve the revenue from the ad, and that helps assure that all of us can have this lovely place to talk shit to 13 year-olds for years to come. So...I stand corrected.

Even though it generates a lot of revenue for the website, it's still kind of annoying. The Internet connection at my place isn't the best. So it's annoying when the Internet is particularly slow (which is a lot) and that ad takes forever to get through because it just will not buffer.

It's not the add that bothers me. It's the fact that its the same add every single time. It makes it almost impossible to watch the short edits people put out. I can't stand watching the same add over and over and over again.

Nothing wrong with making a little $. Just change it up a bit.

Heres the deal, right now it is spring. Which is the end of ski season for most people. Less people skiing = less $$$ from resorts, outerwear, ski brands etc. spent on marketing. The time to sell that is Thanksgiving - Presidents day. That's when the ski industry makes its money, but right now they really don't, so they spend less cash on advertising. You're not going to see resorts advertising their parks or vacation deals when most resort close within a month and a half. So only a few companies are willing to pay for ads here right now because they know that this isn't the best time to spend their marketing budget. Its the same reason there's no March Powder or Freeskier mags. So come back in early December and enjoy a plethora of ads, until then live with the 5 total that will probably run from now until October.
