My boots smell really wierd?

whats a good way to get rid of stinky ski boot odor? i have tried putting dryer sheets in them and letting them dry but the still smell bad. my feet get really sweaty when i ski. also my socks smell like sweaty cheese after skiing same with the boots.

Try putting the liners through your dishwasher? Never actually tried that,but it works for my hats.

Also, sorry for double post, invest in an electric boot dryer. Even if they're not too weat after skiing, I throw my boots on for an hour or something just with cool air (hot if wet), and that really helps the air clear up the smell a bit.

yeah i usually just throw the liners on the heat vent but it doesnt seem to do the trick i might invest in a boot dryer.

Yeah, you don't get the constant circulation that you do with the dryer. I found a great deal on mine, if you find a good one I'd highly recommend giving it a try!

Yeah use the boot dryer, they will still smell bad for a while but if you are consistent it will shape up

put some baby powder in them and put them in the freezer overnight. that'll do the trick.

Dry thoroughly with a boot dryer after every use to avoid new odor. For established odors, sprinkle in some baking soda which will neutralize the odor.

Also, what kind of socks do you use?

The thing I've been reccomended before, which absorb odours and excess moisture, are bamboo charcoal inserts. They're packs which you put into your boots/shoes as soon as your feet come out them and they soak up any moisture and odour and then once they stop doing their job properly you just leave them out in Brit sunlight for a while and it recharges them. If you just google "bamboo charcoal shoe inserts" there should be plenty of places you can get them.

I've heard that with intuition liners you shouldn't put hot air on them to dry them because it will change the heat molding. can a boot fitter validate that statement? are boot dryers ok for fts?

i have intuition liners also but i don't think the dryers run hot enough to fuck with the molding

i just use wool socks and pull the liners out after the day to dry it out. perfectly dry by the next morning

This is correct. Boot Heaters for molding the liners and dryers operate at two different temperatures.

Honestly man you might have a fungus. My feet sweat like crazy in my work boots (carpenter) but they just smell like feet. That sour cheesy stink is usually a sign of some fungus. Try soaking your feet in hot water with tumeric and tyme (spice/ herb standard kitchen stuff) or grab some spray at the store. If its not that try the Oder Eater inserts for your boots they soak up sweat and keep stink down

Find yourself a good scented disinfectant. Chances are if the stink is not going away or is only being masked by other smells, you have some kind of bacteria, fungus, mildew, etc. in there. A disinfectant will kill that stuff and mask the remaining scent.

The key to boots not smelling is keeping them dry so that stank doesn't have a chance to develop. Invest in a boot dryer, or build one, they are worth it will help your boots to stay smelling decent and be dry for your feet the next day. My first trip out west since we stayed in a condo. it was a door to stairs to the first floor. we left out boots at the door and it was a story between the door and the first floor. My boots smelled so bad and strong we could smell them from the first floor. This did the trick

weird trick but it really works

When i raced, my coaches would always give us shit for our stinky stinky boots and how bad the van and hotel rooms smelled because of them. So one day at a ski hill by the hotel we were staying at the manager of the hotel taught us a trick. He was a ski racer for many years but hurt his knee when he was 28, making it very painful to ski at all. He said back in the 70's, EVERY ski racer would carry a bag of clementine oranges around with them to their competitions. They used the natural exfoliating properties of fresh tangerine juice to extract the sweaty cheese smell from the liners of their boots, and in turn get a delicious orangey smell whenever they removed their boots.

Basically you take a pair of old socks, clean though, and fill it to the top with peeled clementines. You then put it in the microwave for 15 minutes or however long it takes for them to be super smushy. then you grab the end of the sock and hit it on a table or desk or something so then you have a very pulpy mixture of warm clementines in your sock. then you stick it in your boot and repeat the process for your other boot. You leave them in there overnight, but only if youre going to be skiing the next day. then, in the morning, you remove the socks, and wa la! you have not smelly bad boot liners.

they will probably be wet, in this case you must get a hair dryer and blow into them for at least 30 minutes to fully remove pulp sweat solution. do this once a week and your boots will never smell like old feet again!

I'm having a hard time getting the pulp out of my boots so i tried peeing in them to get the pulp out but it didn't work but on the plus side my boots smell great now

oh, well the stale urine will be a problem in the future. The good thing is is that rotting urine releases ammonia, your liners will be clean enough to eat off of!!!
