ABS Pack with Avalung

I'm getting ready to buy an ABS pack - does anybody know if there is going to be anything released this year that incorporates both technologies?

It's bullshit that it doesn't already exist.

Currently there is no pack featuring both an ABS system and an avalung. You're best off buying an ABS pack and just a sling Avalung like this one:

i have both, an abs and an avalung (sling type) and i don't really use the avalung at all, i find it pretty complicated and bulky, personally i wouldn't bother spending the money ....

just my 0.02$

i get your point but imho carrying both is a bit too much gear for skiing in a relaxed way, there's a point where you need to decide how far you want to go in terms of safety gear ...

you could say the same about bringing rocket flares, satellite phones, bivy bags, portable stretchers, climbing gear, etc.
you just don't bring em out on the average skiday because they're too much of a hassle

+ are you really going to ski every line with the snorkel in your mouth ?

or do you think you'll have the time/reflex to pull the airbag AND stuff the snorkel in your mouth ?
i hardly doubt it ...

have you ever been in a situation where you would need these? There's no way I would have had the time to pull an airbag, stick an avalung in my mouth, try to ski off the avalanche, yell to my group.... all in the 6-8 seconds of adrenaline pumped madness.
If you only have one of these, that's still far more than most people, and bumps up your survival chances by a significant number... but only if you use it properly.

Black Diamond owns the patent on the Avalung and they don't currently offer an airbag system backpack of any kind. SIA might prove otherwise, but until then, you will only have the options to do one or the other, unless you get the sling.
