i was stuck on the chair today for 45 minutes. it broke down for 20 and then went really slowly for the last 25 minutes. who else has been stuck on the chair for a really long time?
Spent like two hours on a chair at copper. Got a whole bumch of free day pass vouchers and free meals. Totally worth it because it was like 40 and sunny
got stuck for over 45 minutes in killington like 5 years ago on that chairlift that has a turn in it while it was snowing so hard. coldest I've ever been
ive had a lift break on me a few times. once was when i was about 11 or so and it was windy and cold so it sucked. was stuck up there for about an hour. the other time wasnt so bad because it was only like 20 mins
I've been on one that broke down. I decided to hop off after about 20 minutes. Got a few cheers from the people behind me. They were stranded for another 30 minutes.
The drop down was like 15 feet it kind of hurt. Hung down from the chair to shorten the fall.
Was stuck on a lift at Brighton for an hour on a pretty good little pow day too. I was stuck at the highest point of the lift too. After an hour it slowly started going. They ended up closing the resort down due to power failures so I went down the canyon a little ways and skiid a different resort
Got stuck just this past 27th, was for about 40 minutesish, maybe more.. Crazy cold, 30mph winds and only around 15-20 so probably 0 or below with windchill, especially with no mask. (At timberline on magic mile, almost to the top) But patrol was rolling around, about to get the ropes out to hall us down. Then, it started moving SUPER slowly. Luckily I was with some of the coolest people so It was good. Kinda bummed we didn't get anything for free out of it though. Ended up being a computer glitch, funny how they just did a ton of maintenance just on mile before the season started :P
got stuck on gunstocks quad for 2 hours a few years back... had to get hauled down on this sketchy rope thing. was in between some trees though so the wind was minimal
Not me personally but in Deux alpes a couple of years ago the winds were ridiculously high and the jandri express was stuck for about 4 hours; check out the vid here from about 30secs in - people were actually in these lifts:
Just like that movie Frozen - me and my buddy back in highschool got stuck on the chairlift cause the fucker at the bottom didn't relay the message to the top at closing time.
Luckily after a solid half hour past closing a ski patroller went cruising up on a snowmobile and we got his attention
It was so windy that the lift got blown off one of the towers. They had to evacuate everyone off the lift by rope. My buddy and I were the last people off since we were only at tower 2.....
I was at mount snow, and I went up for one last run with my girlfriend and buddy, and they shut the lift down halfway up. Had to spend the night, but I got some decent pictures on my gopro!
I got stuck at my local mountain on one of our chairs for an hour. It was the last run of the night too, so I was pissed. The motor broke so they had to get a backup motor and it was the farthest chairlift away from the chalet/storage area. The backup motor sucked too so it went really slow for like another 15 minutes.. so like an hour and 15 minutes.
I had a nice experience at mount snow with this. After freezing my ass off on the lift for an hour, we had to ski into a small basin where the only way up was a double chairlift with another 1 hour lift line. I decided aint nobody got time for that so I hiked up a super icy black diamond mogul trail. Beat my friend by 5 minutes. Not worth it
one time at my local hill i was night skiing and the power completely shutoff, so it was pitch black and the chair had stopped a few people jumped from the low spot on the lift while others waited for them to slowly run it somehow then they got people down using the lights from the cats. we got no free shit
That sucks. That's what I thought this thread was going to be about. A mountain I used to ride was 8 minutes and the thing brings you 1/4 as far as many mountains. I think the old gondola at gore was like 15. They got rid of it so long ago but I remember it being a long fucking time.
Been stuck on plenty of lifts but it doesn't really matter
Lift quit last year on a total pow day. I popped my skis off and dropped down with my group of skis buddies. We jumped one by one. The three of us had to actually jump forward to overshoot the cat track. Super soft landing though. 15-20 feet into a few feet of fresh. Sucks that i left the GoPro:/
Lift broke done for bout 30 min. At witch point just said fuck it n jumpd maybe bout 12-15 feet better then freezing my ass off on a broken lift n loseing precious ski time.
