HS Hockey players and douchebaggery

There is a direct correlation between long hair(flow), hockey, and being a prick at my school. They regularly argue with me that skiing is for pussys, though they do not know what park skiing or freeskiing is. To make it better our team absolutly blows. I have nothing against hockey players, except that they tend to act like douches at my school...

They constantly try to explain to me how skiers are pussys for not taking huge hits like they do in hockey. I know its not a contact sport but we do take some pretty big falls sometimes.
Dumont&THALL as an example are two of the best known big falls..

Stop trying to compare skiing to hockey.

That being said hockey players as well as lacrosse players tend to be dbags a lot of the time. I feel as though you have to be really confident to be good at either and with that tends to come cockiness. Thank god my lacrosse team in highschool was the goofiest team in the world and not the stereotypical player.

you're thinking of lax players...

my school had a pretty bad hockey team so when the hockey kids walked around like they were the shit everyone just made fun of them. lax kids on the other hand...biggest fucking dickheads ever at my high school

in college it completely goes away. athletes hang out with their respective team and no one team thinks it's better than all the others. granted some of the kids can be assholes, but they probably think we can be assholes too

For me it was the complete opposite. Way more d-bag hockey players in college and most were cool in high school. Could also be because my schools team is D1 so they just think they're the shit.

most teams here are d-1 so it's not like one team is more special than the others. in general athletes have respect for the work and time that they put into their sport. i do the one sport that probably requires the most physical effort while much of the school doesn't even know what it is or what it demands

I feel you, some guys can be d-bags... I play hockey but, I tend not to associate with them as much off the ice.

I feel your pain bro, pucksluts are horrible, I just lost the girl I was dealing with to a hockey-plaing douche. He converted her to puck-sluttery.

REAL TALK THO DAWG: Soccer players are the absolute WORST for douche-baggery and being pricks. Their attitude, their hypocrisy and their hair, it's all atrocious. Even the men's leagues my brother refs are filled with that sort of people. Also, Anytime someone points out how much of a joke their sport really is, they flip out. It happened to me today: some euro with spiky hair was trying to tell me that soccer players take just as hard of hits as rugby players... I told him straight up that he'd be crying if I hit him. He kept going on and on how slide-tackles are so dangerous.... Stuff like that, I've had happen to me so frequently. Soccer players act as if soccer is the only sport in the world and that it reigns supreme.

BUT, BUT, BUT: Skiing is a hobby. Sure we smash damn hard but, by far not the hardest. Parkour artists defy death and smash into concrete SO HARD and it's only considered a "leisurely pastime." Hockey players NEED to be athletes if they want to be good so, they should be respected for their efforts. Skiers don't really need to work out to be good at what they do. Unless you're super intense or compete, it shouldn't be considered a sport. Don't get me wrong I adore skiing.

I hate the vast majority of hockey players. They are such fucking pricks - I can't fucking stand them. They think they're gods or something because they're good at "puck." Fuck them, they're usually all stupid as shit too. Hockey players are actually a major turn-off for me. I know there are some who are nice guys, but the ones that aren't are possibly some of the worst people I have ever encountered. Ugh, guys who ski are way hotter.

D1 Skiing is legit kids on here should aspire be trying to be the fastest in their school and crack a real ski team (somewhere like Denver or CU that isn't gonna happen of course) instead of copping out and being like "free skiing bla bla bla" if you're not throwing back flips age 13 or so go run some gates and ski all mountain first instead of thinkin your the shit cause you can 360 or grind a rail.

Dude, people like you really make me mad. I am not one to make fun of other sports but you really have no idea what you are talking about. Sure soccer might not be the most dangerous sports (I have played a few pick up games of hockey), but it is pretty dangerous which you would know if you have ever played a game at a competitive level. You sound like one of the hockey douche bags OP mentioned.

I play hockey and none of my team mates are pricks like you guys are talking about. Sure there are those few kids that joke around too much about chriping, but really the hockey talk doesnt leave the ice or locker room. But I can see where you guys are coming from. Hockey players are usually some of the most gritty and hard nosed athletes so douchebagery comes with some of them. But the fact of the matter is that I live in maryland and even if one of my team mates or me tried to brag about how good we are at puck they could give less of a shit. Lacrosse is big at our school and I also play and I would definitely say that some of my mates are d bags. I love em, but they can be assholes. Its not that they brag about lax and all, theyre just assholes.

I used to play competitive hockey aso not im still frinds with alot of the hockey/lax kids. To be honest they arent really douche bags to soccer players and skiiers. A couple of them ski too . Tere might be an occational 'soccer is gay' chirp but its always a joke and they know its the most popular sport on the planet. I dont know if my school is different but they are nothing like that chucky slick faggot, if you acted like him youd probably be made fun of for the rest of your life. PS. Puck sluts are annoying as fuck

My brother played a high level and is now a provincial level referee. Soccer is not dangerous.

COMPARISON: Rugby players, hockey players, football players and aussie rules players(Next level, look it up) take nuts abuse every single match. Those soccer injuries occur once in a blue moon. The worst injury I've hear of in soccer is a twisted ankle and a broken nose.

Dude, I once saw a guy break his femur playing soccer, it is definitely dangerous. Not that those other sports aren't more dangerous, but there were two acl tears on our team this season. Everyone seems to think soccer players fake injuries all the time which RARELY occurs. Sometimes professionals use it as a strategy, but it rarely if ever occurs on high school and college games. All I'm saying is don't bash on a sport that you don't play. Play a season of non-recreational soccer and then you can complain about it.

I played hockey for around 7 years. I have nothing against the game, I just hate the way it is taught and lived by. The whole, "your a pussy if you don't love this 3 hour hellish practice as much as you live your mom" mentality didn't agree with me. Switching to skiing full time was the best decision I have ever made. Anybody else feel the same way?

i have to agree to some extent. gridiron football players (yes i use that term) are kind of all over how tough they are.

i played soccer and football (blablbla living in europe, blablabla) and both have their hard aspects. i hate all this shit going on around my ankles because i have broken them a while back and thats really an issue with soccer, cause everything is so focused on the knees downwards.

football is obviously a tougher sport. but if you put your head down and commit, not a lot of bad stuff can come out of it.

and you also have to differentiate between the various levels. professional soccer players rarely hurt each other very badly. most often, they will jump over a tackle or avoiding a collision, unless its near the goal. but amateur soccer is one rough shit, unskilled fuckheads left and right that just aim for your feet and go. professional football is pretty nasty with all the hits and so, but high school and lower college football has not the same speed and intensity that easily results in injury (even though badly coached teams are pretty dangerous to play against too).
