Hey guys, recently I purchased a pair of 2012 K2 Press skis without know they are a "beginner ski". My question for you guys is will these skis hold up to advanced park use for a few seasons. If not, whats a good alternative for around the same price?
How advanced of park use are you planning to use them for? I would assume they should hold up fine aslong as you're not hucking huge flips of 40ft+ jumps. I could be wrong but I have a friend who rode presses all last season and he had no problem with them being too soft or not being able to holdup on some of the bigger features!
Ok guys great stuff. Let me be specific. Im 5feet 9in and 130lbs. When I im generally hittin the park but i'll bang out a few double blacks. As for park i'll hit every rail or box there is and same with jumps. That being said im not doing 40ft flips. So i guess i would be more intermediate-advanced for park. I was originally getting moment reno rockers but they werent available. I also looked at the k2 domains.
I would say definitely get the domains, i would not recommend the presses or abangs to anyone unless they want a shitty ski or are beginners, the domain is a sick ski! it can be buttery but still stiff enough for those bigger jumps and the durability is top notch
I'd thrash them while you have them unless its not too late to return them. They are not going to be the best to go down steep double blacks but with your skiing experience you can most likely make any ski skiable under any condition.
Anyone know where I can get a pair for under $300. Im on a tight budget but I think I can get by with that. I'm looking for some in 169cm but all the skis under $300 are 159cm.
I've heard from a bunch of people that Domains felt "Noodly". Some people love that feeling. But if you're looking for a more stable/stiff ski and like K2, Evo outlet has Recoils for $330. Only con I've heard is that they're a tiny bit heavy but durable as fuck.

I like the inbetween road, still buttery but stiff enough to be stable when going fast. Based on what I have read here alot of people like the domains and I'm getting a good vibe. The way I look at it is I don't way much so that "Noodly" affect won't be AS great.
youre the same size as me, ive skied my presses for 2 1/2 seasons like that, and theyve held up great. I've only had 1 coreshot. i plan on getting at least 2 more seasons out of them
if you have the chance i would go with the domains. they're less of a "price point" ski than the press is, so it would be better in the long run. but if you can't, dont worry, the press is a very fun ski
Domains. In my opinion they are a beefed up version of the Press and they will be great for rails and medium sized jumps (up to 50ft). Plus K2 are really durable so you'd get your moneys worth. If you wanted the next step up, say you wanted to hit bigger jumps or wanted more stiffness for shredding all mountain look at the Iron Maidens, but for what you want Domains fit that well.
