"Howdy everybody! As some of you may or may not know, I'm transgender ftm. I'm hoping to have top surgery in May, but I can't handle it alone financially. I find myself needing help.

Many of you have already supported me in my transition, and I know this is a lot to ask. But this surgery is incredibly meaningful and important to me both mentally and physically. I've started a chipin account for anyone who is interested in donating or learning more about it. I know not everyone can afford to help, but if you could like or share this, that would be awesome too!

What? You think this is a good cause. I'm not saying I don't support you changing genders but you're a dense mofo if you think I'm gonna help you pay for it. What makes you any more special than the other hundreds of people that have wanted this surgery and paid for it themselves or can't afford it.

OH NO WAY I AM HELPING someone who faces a 1/3 chance of committing suicide as a trans person get a surgery which they don't see as elective because they are actually male. Well, truthfully, there are 'more important causes' but imo this is a pretty big deal. Surely there's better causes than the SPCA but hey, if it means something to you, great, I believe this person deserves help.

In Canada this type of surgery is paid for with tax money since wanting a gender change is considered a mental illness and so falls into our health care coverage.
