You think Hamas missile strikes and obamas reelection are too coincidental to not be correlated?
I kinda feel like Hamas knows Obama would not send us forced into gaza, so after the election they started firing missiles. Idk seems to coincidental to me
Haha no question Hamas and terrorist groups stive on weakness. That being said I'm kinda glade were not involved, isreal can handle their shit with no red tape
I kinda feel like Hamas knows Obama would not send us forced into gaza
What? Assuming you are saying Obama would not send US forces, well you still lost me. Wouldn't they want to fire missiles when no one would intervene? and then we must ask, why do you think Obama would refrain from intervening if he wanted to? That answer is complicated, but we must ask, Why do we want to intervene?
Why the fuck do we have to pick sides? The Israelis are doing terrible terrible things to the Palestinians. I would argue they are being more violent* than Hitler, (*if we look at relative violence and it's social impacts, NOT PHYSICAL). Hamas are no good guys either. Can anyone enlighten me on why we can not just deem the conflict as unethical or uncivil?
A Machiavellian would say that it is a way of retaining power, but I think it is too costly. We are extending ourselves too much and it is really scaring me. It's not like we can do much about it. (Note the statement that follow skips many steps in my reasoning as it is unnecessarily lengthy, if you wish to see it just ask) It appears as if we either continue waging wars and burn out our social resources or stop waging wars and have a catastrophic crash. Please do not mistake me as an idealist, I just want the best possible solution.
Weakness invites terror. Terrorist blew up an embassy in seria we did nothing to hunt them down. 6 months later the same people blow up a marine barracks. Romney stated that if isreal attacked the USA would back isreal with military force. Obama shyed away from using forceshowing weakness which is why they chose to attack after the election. As Yamamoto put it "I fear all we have done is awake a sleeping giant and filled him with terrible resolve." Hamas does not want the us getting involved since we will unilateraly destroy them and their culture with our massive military Occupation
it couldnt be more obvious that you don't know a thing about the history and context of israel's fight over there, or the US's relationship with israel. next time you want to make a thread and spread your nonsense, go do some reading instead so you don't sound like such a fucking idiot. jesus christ
We should just stop invading countries. Not for the common idealistic reasons, but because we need to stop playing these power games. I firmly believe that Islam is going to slowly fall apart as we inevitably build a larger global capitalism. If we look at religion and there relationship with a nation's economy, you will see some religions are working very well with our changing economy. Buddhism, Judaism, and Protestantism generally thrive in capitalism. Islam does not work very well in Capitalism because in Islamic economic jurisprudence it asks that the economy order and form to the Islamic tradition. It is extremely static.
I do not think that Islamic nations will continue for much longer. Muslims are going to have to learn how to be a part of a culture instead of being the dominate culture in a country.
This is where mind is at now. Over the next 20-40 years we will learn how flexible Islamic traditions are.
actually, Hamas and Israel had just agreed to an informal ceasefire a day before Israel assasinated the head of Hamas' military branch(yes they are a political party).
That is what really started this most recent conflict.
Now, Israel and Hamas have essentially brokered another ceasefire and EVERYONE(literally everyone but Israel) has said they are just waiting for the formality of Israel to sign. Israel said "fuck you all" and decided to increase their bombing for one more day before they sign. And they are pretty indiscriminate with their bombings; they dont care if they kill innocent men, women, and children as long as their target is hit as well.
Israel is as much or more to blame for this current conflict than Hamas. And we arent even going to get into the human rights violations they commit on a daily basis against the palestinians.
seriously. not to start a political shitstorm but i dont see why so many american jewish kids who have very little connection to isreal are crying about israel being bombarded with these rockets 300 times a day when they have hardly caused much dammage. not to mention the dammage and havoc israel has caused in the past week in gaza.. not choosing a side in the matter. just sayin.. plus the media coverage of this conflict is bullshit.
I'm sure Israel can get by off of the billions of dollars in US foreign aid and weapons that we give them every year. And they are competent enough to make their own military decisions.
Hamas puts purposely puts their Organization in populated areas so there are more civilian casualties. Hamas fires rockets into isreal every month, why wouldnt they want to get rid of them once and for all?
Give this a look - http://stopwar.org.uk/index.php/palestine-and-israel/2027-who-is-doing-the-killing-in-gaza-noam-chomsky-and-others-challenge-the-worlds-media
Maybe because they're a political organization.its military branch is like 1/10th of Hamas. Hamas spends way way more money on building hospitals, schools, orphanages and soup kitchens. Also Israel does not seem to try to solve the conflict in any other way than through pure military power.
Im not pro Palestinian neither pro Israel, but still Hamas is much more than just a "terrorist organization"
