Are a fucking JOKE.

I can't use NS at work now for fear that some stupid whore is going to pop up on the screen showing her gross tits.

Get your shit together NS. I understand that FD and Lesh "don't give a fuck" and are "shaking up a stagnant industry, doing what they want" but you have to draw the line somewhere. If they want to kill all of their sites adult traffic (people with money to actually buy shit), and have a surge in horny 12 year old kids, then let them do that.

If you want to continue losing daily users because they will literally be reprimanded for using the site at work due to inappropriate content, then I guess that's your call but it is a fucking stupid one.

-Annoyed user who spends less and less time on the site after being an avid user for almost 10 years.

I'm afraid that the stats tell me that we're gaining daily users.

This has nothing to do with FD wear. This is the fact that I refuse to ban non-porn on the site. Everything is covered, and I'm not going to stand by while we let the corporate world whitewash our site.

If you can't view the websites you want in a cubicle, maybe you either shouldn't be on NS in that cubicle, or you shouldn't be in that cubicle.

I will say it now and forever, the line holds. I will NOT allow this site to become whitewashed with fucking polish. That is what the other ski websites are for.

The sled and car drifting ads are tight. It's just the one with some GIRL PLAYING WITH HER TITS... You must of not been put into the situation where you had employees, teachers, peers behind you. It's awkward as fuck. That's all.

I mean the ad is great if I'm home alone..

I have employees and peers behind me. I have a wife, a child and a mother in law that have sat there while I watched it.

They laugh, say "what are you watching?"

I say "newschoolers. You wouldn't get it."

They shrug, giggle and conversation over.

How is not showing ads of girls bouncing their tits 'Corporate whitewash polish?' Why do we have to have them at all? If you want to look at that shit.. go to a site based on that.

Sounds like you have a real stick up your ass about people working in corporate environments. The fucked up part about that is, we are the ones who support the ski industry. Not some snot nosed 17 year old kid jerking off to FD ads.

Telling me that "maybe you shouldn't be in that cubicle" is a joke, I'm not sure what happened with your other gig, or why you came back to NS, but I am sensing some serious butt hurt regarding people who work corporate jobs. I realize you may want to have a job where you spend the day chatting with kids, dying your hair rainbow colors, and post stupid memes on the internet, but I want to make money.

And I know 10 people off the top of my head who work in the ski industry out of a cubicle, so really your argument is stupid.

I understand your censorship argument, but why push it just to push it? Whats the point? Just so you can say 'no corporate whitewash bullshit here'. Really seems worth it? Also, who owns NS now? A pretty corporate company who happen to cut pretty big checks.

My main thing here is that I'm not going to stop the behaviour because I feel that the site needs to be whitewashed in order to be safe for an average corporate working environment.

I didn't put those ads up. YOu're asking me to take them down to satiate your corporate environment. I disagree with that philosophy to the core. I will not stop perfectly legal behaviour because Newschoolers doesn't fit into a specific work environment which is what you asked of me.

I have a job in the real world. Newschoolers is owned by a very large corporation, which runs an office full of cubicles where you wouldn't not be allowed to watch videos like this. I technically work for my own Canadian company which has a contract to run Newschoolers, and we have an open-concept loft in downtown montreal. I own a house, have a wife, have a son, two cars and two dogs. My life is fantastic, because I have chosen a path where I get to live how I wish.

My employees are very professional - we just don't waste time worrying about stuff that doesn't matter. Its not green names and interns here, only adults with careers.

Again - I'm not hating on you. I'm simply stating that you can't ask us to whitewash the site to fit with your corporate environment. You can't ask to rip the soul out of NS so we can please your employer.

If you go on ns at work, school, etc and your peers, teachers or boss think its unacceptable to be on here you are the one running the risk of coming to ns during that time when you know this is going to happen.. Dont complain

Here's something I'm REALLY curious about -

The exact same ads are in Freeskier. Does this mean that you'll be fired for bringing a freeskier magazine to work if you accidentally open it to the FD Wear ad page?

For the rest of you at school - same question. Do they ban magazines with girls in them?

The problem is not being on NS. Skiing content is completely approved for work.

It's the roulette with borderline pornogrpahic ads. That's the unnecessary risk I am pointing out here.... Not sure how you missed that.

And honestly Bishop, you saying traffic is increasing is pretty irrelevant. There are THOUSANDS of factors that effect traffic, and I would argue the largest one is the overall popularity of the sport. Which has been exponentially growing since I joined.

I can accurately say that you ARE missing out on traffic, because I am one of those people that used to frequent the site much more. I personally know several others too.

Yes, I totally understand that you are unable to visit Newschoolers as much as you used to. Honestly, that totally sucks, and I really hate that what we are all about causes issues with viewing the site when you want.

However, I don't understand why you would argue that we should whitewash the entire site just to help your workplace? Even include everyone else in a workplace or school strict about completely covered girls...

WHere does it end?

For you see, its like free speech. You can't just trim one type of free speech and let the rest be protected. If we whitewash the ads to make it safe for your workplace, then we basically have to delete NSG and allow no further discussion. How far does it go?

In my mind, Newschoolers is a loose and fun environment. We're all skiers here, we're all about skiing, but we aren't about succumbing to the norms of life. Freeskiing is about being free, and if someone on this site wants to post something a little racy - but legal - then I am not going to stop it.

Believe you me - I understand the factors that affect traffic. I've been watching traffic all day every single day for basically the last 8 years straight. I'm very comfortable with what causes ups and downs in NS traffic.

It would be unbelievably silly business for us to cater to a corporate market. That is just simply not who we are.

I know this is a lost cause and my opinion is 100% irrelevant.


But I agree with the OP. The ads were initially annoying yet funny. Now I can't really use the video section in public and I recently had the pleasure of watching the tits one with an entire CS class behind me. Talk about stats all you want, but haven't all the wonderful changes to the video section been made to enhance the experience for viewers? These ads take it away for someone who only uses NS in a public environment (a college student). Clearly there are other users who are having the same issues.


Can't we just go back to Double Pits to Chesty?

Nobody is going to stop going to the video section either, it's just the times you go to the video section are now limited, no work or school, pretty much just free time at your house or somewhere relatively private. Nobody stopped reading the ski mags because you can read those pretty much anywhere, and you can hide them easier, and you know what page the ad is on.

Real adults don't care about a few covered titties. They're perfectly normal and acceptable. Hell try watching the ad at work and showing your boss... I bet they will laugh.

Thread cleaned up for getting into stupid personal attacks. Lets debate the issues here, not get into childish name calling.

j.bird - listen man, I understand that this sucks for you. However, please try to understand things from our end as well. There are a very small number of people who have workplaces or schools so restrictive that something like this will cause the site to be blocked.

In order to appease those people, we would have to go through absolutely everything and completely whitewash the entire website. Right now, everything on NS keeps to perfectly legal standards of nudity, and that is the rules. If anyone wants to come close to those rules - but not cross over them - then that is their right to do so. Advertisers and users included.

I don't think that there is enough people on here that would want a mass cleanup of absolutely everything to warrant taking the extreme action to do so. I also don't believe that is what Newschoolers is about, nor does it affect us within the industry negatively in any way.

Freeskiing is loose and fun, and sometimes that is going to clash with the corporate world. Lots of people ski to escape that corporate world, and the last thing that we want to do is bow down to it.

I'm really sorry you have trouble browsing at work. Though I usually do not suggest this, perhaps an ad blocker for your situation would work out quite nicely. We alway advocate people to look at the ads - as it is the lifeblood of the website - but maybe if its a gamechanger at work you can just do it there.

Sound like a compromise you can live with?

i have a question...has anyone here ever decided to buy a virtika jacket BECAUSE of an ad you saw on newschoolers of a chick wearing one? it seems to me like everyone on ns has already heard of the brand, and they are either planning on buying it or not. thoughts?

That is the problem - its a few angry people that are causing all the hate on this. The majority of members and the traffic to the site as a whole don't give a hoot.
