Without wanting to sound abusive have any of you GoPro fans actually looked at a Contour.
you mention using a remote..Contours could be controlled by your phone and also use your phone as a viewfinder in the last ones let alone the new one.
Both have an almost identical lens however the Hero 3 does have the best processor so allows higher FPS at the same details.
The main advantage of a Contour over the GoPro is how it is mounted, they can almost both be positioned in the same places however for a side of head mount a GoPro uses a bulky frame leaving them far more open to impact and therefore being snapped off.
Any of you water lovers out there..both will need a waterproof case for extreme activities although the contour roam can be used for swimming and such without it..great for washing it off when it's coated in Mud. However far more important that that is what happens when they are dropped..Mounts on both can and do fail occasionally the advantage with a contour is that it floats..Look online and see the many stories about people dropping GoPro's in the standard case and loosing it. Yes you can put a floatation device on it but this makes the camera bulking. Contours have almost all the things you can buy for GoPro hero 2's as accessories already built in, GoPro have added many of these into the Hero 3 black however there are still some you buy as extras..this is ok it just means lots of wonga.
Contour's beat all but the Hero's but the Hero 3 which with all it's accessories will take your bank and empty it.
Hope this clears things up.
