you dont quite understand the amount of people from denver that would show up for a sunday opening. that is why it would be better for a weekday opening.
Yes they will, Killy is a lot bigger than "Wild Mountain" and clearly has the temps and snow making capacities to stay open, not to mention they have some natural snow as well. Sunday River will open soon after Killington as well. I do envy you guys in CO though.
uh did you read what al wrote. he said sunday will not be the day, but its a day to day thing and they will evaluate again tomorrow if conditions are good for a monday opening.
A-bay doesn't need a weekend opening to market towards attendance. It's the 'locals' mountain. Last year they opened on a Thursday and overflow parking was in use. Plus the majority of people attending will be pass holders anyways and it's not like they're going for resort attractions.
How is it any better? If you don't want to go up until a weekday, a weekday opening will just make it more crowded than if they had opened up a day or two before. No one if forcing you to go on opening day if you think it's gonna be too crowded. There are just thousands and thousands of people who lose the opportunity to go skiing.
You guys wishing for a weekday opening are not only selfish but misguided as well.
Location has absolutely nothing to do with dedication, I know a kid that lives in Kiowa that got 30+ days last season, and you're telling me he is not dedicated?
i drove up to a basin yesterday, and they look like they got a couple inches. the whole mountain was basically covered only with larger shrubs and rocks sticking out. and the WROD looked almost complete. they need 2-3 more nights of snowmaking i think.
From webcams and general reports it looks like they're ahead of A-bay, they definitely still need to effectively cover the lower portion of mambo and homerun though:
Anyone guessing a day for loveland? Based off what ive seen at abay, I feel like its going to be good to go as soon as we get another night of snowmaking
