Was just chilling and I realized there must be some really fucking rich kids on here so I am interested to see who has the richest? Might be a dumb thread but I don't really care. Post up, claim all you want, it's what this thread is for.

Yep, that's about how I grew up as well. Been skiing 20 years or so and only ever bought 1 new pair of boards. I've never wanted to have the hottest new thing though, I'm happier making due with what I've got. IMO it breeds a resourceful attitude toward life.

i admire that alot, i myself for one didnt have a tough upbringing whatsoever, but my dad came from a very froogle family, which he instills on us today. Anytime i wanted something i would always pay for it through yard work or house work, and keep track of it in an hourly log, where he would pay me the minimum wage at the time, mind u i was probably 6-8 years old when i first started this. I have to say it taught me alot about working and how and what u spend ur money on, unlike some friends i have who were very spoiled, it shows now where they just dont have the motivation that i myself have. I realized how expensive skiing was so i ended up getting a job at a ski shop in HS where i would be able to afford new equipment with the shop discount, because if i didnt there is no way i would have all the shit i do now. But anyways guess what i am saying is i am thankful for how i was brought up.

And before anyone assumes that my parents buy all my shit for me they don't. I wake up at 5 every morning to go to work at a golf course. That's where all my money comes from to buy things. I also have to pay a certain amount a month + gas to use the car.

Yeah that's the way my dad makes me do things too. He didn't go to college and came from a really poor, like trailer trash in Arkansas, household. He is an electrician and luckily my mom's father was boss as fuck and owned a huge electrical company so he always had work for my dad ever since he was like 19, and my the time he passed my dad had gotten to be a master electrician and had his own company. My dad worked hard enough that me and my 2 brothers can go to college but he also taught us all how to work and navigate a job site and that kind of stuff. I work for him right now making min wage recycling metal and wire from his electrical contracting company. My grandma payed for my snowboarding for like 2 years using shitty gear and a rental board until I was old enough to get a job at the ski resort to pay for my pass.

my family is upper middle class in Connecticut and used to have a lot more money. if the recession hadn't happen and my dad stayed at the company he used to work for, we'd be rolling in dough right now. as it stands he still makes an enormous amount of money, but we're deep in debt with the government and that's where all of our money is going.

my friend's dad is the CEO of Morgan Stanley though, and when he was seventeen his net worth is like 35 million at age eighteen.
