So, my algebra teacher sucks. We have a final tomorrow and she didn't teach us half the shit that's on it. Basically were solving systems of equations. I have a equation, 2x - y = 1. Then to make it into slope intercept form, i subtract 2x from both sides, making it -y= -2x + 1. Normally that would be graphed m= -2/1 and b=1, but what if the y is negative? Does that change anything?

**Spark Notes: what happens if the y is negative in y=mx+b?**

Flip it like yay

divide everything by -1 so that y will be positive

-y=-2x+1 is the same as y=2x-1

this man, right here, is correct

thanks! 10/10

Just change the signs of every term, i.e. multiply by -1.

Math is pretty cool if you have a good teacher.

This yo the y has to be positive

"she didn't teach us" is not a valid excuse. Pay attention and quit being an asshat in class, it'll pay off.

-y= -2x + 1 muliply through by -1. y= -1(-2x +1) final answer to graph slope y=2x -1

Lolololll ok that is an acceptable excuse.

i thought that meant the y intecept was negetive on the y axis, so it would be below the x axis

Correct

if you multiply or divide by -1 (ive been shown both) then you will go from -y=-2x+1 ->y=2x-1.
