HP Laptops VS. Asus Laptops?
I've been looking for a new laptop for college, for a multi-media course I am taking!
I've sorta narrowed it down to these two...
I'm leaning more towards the Asus, but I would like to hear some of your guys thoughts first. If you have some other recommendations for a laptop, feel free to toss a link.
+K for good answers! :)
those are both overpriced for what you are getting, and they both have sandy bridge rather than ivy bridge processors. go on xoticpc.com and build yourself a sager 9150 or 9170. You wont be disappointed. make sure to get a ssd boot/ disk combo and upgrade the processor
i hate asus computers. i had one, my dad has one and my friend had one. i hated all of them. they hated them too. i can go into detail why they suck if you want
Hp is shit when it comes to overheating and slow initial running speed because of all the pre-installed shit
I enjoy my HP, more so than my mac I have no experience with anything other than Asus monitors.
I can attest to overheating. my HP runs super hot.
slow running speeds I disagree with. well, that might be because the instant I got it a wiped every bit of everything it had and installed Ubuntu instead then windows on a separate partition. 4 years later and it still runs super well. it doesn't run noticeably slower at all. everyone else who I know who got a laptop at the same time (whether dell or hp or mac) are plagued by them all running like shit now and it takes forever to start up + launch programs etc. although again, this may be because I fresh install the operating systems every year or two.
only problem is the screen is becoming problematic and stops working every so often.
Also, if you want a quality laptop, go with Acer. I've only ever heard good things about them.
They are really slow, get really hot, crashed all the time , too expensive for what you get and the hardware breaks
Pretty much described the hp I have right now :P
Ok, please do not buy an HP laptop. They're shit. I treat my laptops very well and I never even keep anything on they're internal hard drives, I always kept my files on an external drive and my HP's would always crash on me. I never downloaded anything on them, and I never went to sketchy sites. I ran full virus scans once a week and it still kept crashing and not running fast at all.
I sent it back to HP because I keept getting blue screen errors and they looked at it, said that the computer is fine and sent it back. Then when I get it back, the recovery partition of my internal hard drive was gone? Like what's with that? They're customer service sucks and they're just not a good company. I do not recommend them.
I've also heard that HP is getting out of the computer industry, so might not be the best choice. And it was a creditable source, it was straight form an HP rep
considering HP is by far the largest seller of computers in the world by a factor of about %35 more than the next highest company (Lenovo), I really really highly doubt this.
why would they still be releasing computers then? that doesn't seem likely
That's just what i heard from an HP guy. I think he said its going to be along the lines of them going into more the software rather than the physical units themselves. Don't take this as 100% true, its just what i heard and that was last August, so i might not of happened.
And Lenovo is the computer branch that IBM got rid of a couple of years ago. IBM was a very big player and got rid of its computers, I don't see why HP couldn't do the same.
Oh yeah, and their laptops are crap.
I've actually heard similar rumors too. Not sure how accurate the rumors are, but it makes sense.
