Okay NS, so ive got about 10,000 bucks for a car. i know its not a lot but it def can get me something good.

i go to school in Florida but 4 wheel drive might be nice to have because i do live in Connecticut.

other than that NS...throw me some sweet whips i could get

If you have ten grand, take out a 6 thousand dollar loan, buy yourself a brand new car. And have a low monthly payment with low interest for a few years.. it'll build your credit, you'll have a brand new car, and low interest since you have the new car.. the chevy sonic would be sick.

I know that's a complete joke of a suggestion, but I loved my sunfire. The engine ran clean for 17 years until I chose to sell it because the k-frame had some pretty bad rust and the repair costs were way beyond the actual worth of the car

10,000 is quite a bit if your gonna buy used.
id go with a mk4 gti for fast.
or an older wrx or wrx wagon. those things are sick, fast, and will last forever.

Ive been looking into wagons lately. Volvo xc 70 is sounding pretty good right about now but I'm sure a young buck like yourself isn't interested in cruising the strip in a wagon haha. Maybe an a4?

Acura TL - luxury but still has FWD so if you move up north, throw some snows on it.

Tacoma, they are cheaper in Florida than places where they're necessary.

i have one and its decent. 
 theres something wrong with the axal though so whenever i turn it creaks and cracks really loudly.
anyone know why its doing that??

not at all- my little brother just picked up a 2 owner 90k with every single receipt and maintance record including water pump and timing belt. Absolutely mint with every option- only mods were coils and a set of wheels- not slammed thing is perfect

he paid $8700 for it- S4 for 10k will be perfect condition around 75k miles with belt and waterpump done- $13k gets you a mint stage 3 nowadays-

i really don't recommend this, you will spend all your 10k just finding one with under 100k miles but the problem is maintenance. nothing is easy to fix on an audi and it's expensive. friend just blew a turbo and because of where the turbo is located you have to take the engine out of the car to fix it which runs you about $2,000 just for labor, not including the new turbo.

but anyways you can get a lot of cars for under 10k so it really depends on what you want. you can get a jeep wrangler tj for under 10k and parts are pretty cheap and they are fun to drive, especially with the top off and in florida. you can also get a 4 runner which will last a while and are good cars. if you want something faster then you could get a decent wrx for around that.

2003-2005 Subaru Forester XT.  Same floorpan as a WRX, low insurance and you can bet that some lesbian/grandma has been babying it since they bought it.  Low insurance too, with an incredible amount of room.  If you get the largest THULE rack, you can carry all of your friends, and all of their equipment on any ski trip.

Ski trip?  You must be driving in snow.  The ground clearance, and the AWD system will get you through anything.  Most higher end Foresters have heated seats, heated mirrors, heated windshields... these are all essential winter driving features.  Many Foresters have a massive sunroof as well, it's the biggest one I've seen.

Even if you can't buy an XT, look at the XS, which is just as capable in the snow, but without the turbocharger. 

I love my 2003 XS, and my next car will definitely be a Forester.

lots of ignorance in this thread, also VW/Audi fanboys.

you live in CT where it barely snows, you don't need 4WD, FWD will suit you fine in the winter there.

Mazda, Toyota, Honda. Look at those three, ANY used sports car is going to be beat to shit. I will personally NEVER EVER buy a used WRX, S4, insert fast car here because it will be beaten to shit.

VW/Audi - aesthetically pleasing to look at, drive nice... a bitch to repair, expensive to repair, reasons being that VW/Audi have a monopoly on their parts, so they can over charge for them, also they have weird VW tools to work on their vehicles so a lot of mom n pop garages won't work on them.

Subaru makes great cars no doubt, but anything they make with the slightest sex appeal is going to be beaten to death by the 20 something who owned it before you.

Honda/Toyota, not as fun, but stupid reliable, relatively cheap to repair.

Mazda, makes fun, reliable cars, easy and cheap to repair, insurance on them is pretty reasonable as well.

this. You live in ct. There is no reason for awd maybe 5 times a year tops. Dont look at wrx/s4/ for that matter a4/ any luxury car. NS is going to spew out a whole lotta bullshit because there into some stupid fucking cars. My vw jetta is a decent car ok on gas, labor isnt evne that bad but as this kid said, a lot of parts are vw only, which makes it really annoying to get fixed sometimes.

you're gonna get some hop ons.

You will be able to get pretty solid car for 10k, but be reasonable and think of insurance, repairs, etc. I agree with the guy above who suggested the Forester XT. Very practical cars...I would consider getting one...this one is super clean: http://maine.craigslist.org/ctd/2910892925.html

You can get a decent Subaru (Forester, Outback, Impreza Outback) for around 10 grand plus they do exceptionally well on gas not to mention they are bombproof in the winter. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Its all about personal preference, there are plenty of options out there with 10,000.

06-08 civic SI. They are awesome in winter with good tires and are super nice and fun to drive. You can probably get a pretty nice one for 10g.
