Construction of Rails

Before i start, I know there are a couple of decent articles in reference to building your own backyard rails, however, none of these really addressed what i plan to do. All of them invloved using a welder and crazy technical stuff. Im tryin to make a box-ish jib, using 2 old skis, obviously sliding on the bases. however, its frikin impossible to nail through the top sheet, and i have so far nailed some pieces of wood to connect the two skis using the ripped and rough ancient binding holes. Anyone got any ideas or can help me out in putting the ting together strongly?
Since it is a bit specific, I was wondering whether anyone had ideas and that about building a rail without using a welder?

mount four 1/2 inch pvc pipes on top of a 2x4 and then build hte frame, slides perfectly and ive made about 3 rails doing that.

if you can't nail through the surface, use a drill. countersink the hole or you're gonna get hung up on the screws. also, use screws instead of nails

ya, are you fuckin retarded? i dont think you can build something like this if you cant figure out to drill (then countersink) the hole, and use a screw. who the fuck nails throughn skis? its fuckin plastic and fiberglass!

not if you do it right. cut off a piece of the PVC like a foot long and practice screwing into it

and dont screw through both layers of the pipe, drill a hole in the top big enough for the head of the screw to go through and a smaller diameter on the other side. that's kinda hard to understand but do it anyways.

any advice on the type of the best glue or bonder to use, to do one part, not the actual whole thing, like supports and that

use a drill bit and drill holes in the top of the pvc pipes in 4 places, then put screws in the pipe and throuhg the bottom of hte pvc into the 2x4. its fucking easy and cheap, and NO it wont crack

if you really want the old ski rail, pre drill the holes, (make alot, cause skis flex if im not mistaken) then use SCREWS slightly larger than the holes and pre drill your wood too. use thin plywood to bind it together on the outside to make a box, or just bolt on some 4x4's for some lateral support and leave as a rail. you might want to ramove the edges of the old skis prior to construction for the aforementioned catching issue.

no, you wont catch on pvc. i havent once caught on it and fallen forward. it doesnt crack either. and it slides very well.
