Stupid phone and enter button. Anyways 1) I feel that some of the shots had a little two much in run before the actually banger. Yes those were all bangers. Only a few clips. 97% went with the flow and only 2-3 felt too long to me. If I wasn't on my phone I would tell you the times. The second critique is the banding. It may be the 60d or it may be the correction applied. Again, just personal thoughts. Take it with a grain of salt, the edit was amazing with both the riding and more importantly the filming movements..

I felt the same way about the in runs, I had some space to fill at some of the time so thats one of the reasons.

Really liked how you added some audio of skiing for parts and that the colors were consistent.
Also the glidecam is scaring me..are you using the gyro system below it or something?
Lastly, I feel as though all your recent music choice for ski edits is kind of dull in the sense that it makes one down.  At least for me I feel this kind of music would make someone depressed.  Just my opinion though, everyone has their own styles.

Those were some really interesting angles, I liked it. My (minor) gripe is that most were from behind the rider, maybe a quarter from beside/on the lip, and only one shot from more of a landing perspective. Maybe throw in a couple shots of rails seen from the end of the rail? Same for the jumps, but probably with a longer focal length.

Very impressive though, well done.

really enjoyed that. minor critique

- i liked the song choice but there were a few spots at the end, right when he's throwin all the dubs, and you have a tight shot of just the jump take off and get him going through the air...that happens i think just a few seconds before the chorus drops again. i would have like to see that shot and him pop in right as "paradise" comes in. but thats personal opinion.

other than that i liked it a lot. what picture style/settings did you use on the 60D?

probably my favorite one you have made! really liked it! -two little things

i felt as the beginning didnt flow that well with the rest of the edit, i think it was a little unnecessary but that my opinion, and on a few of the shots i felt like you fell behind the skiing with the tripod, the skier was more bottom right corner rather than being in the middle

still so jelly how you can get that good of quality out of the 60D, keep it up man!

I felt the same way. I felt like it took away from the quality the edit had in comparison to the dark shots of your living room/phone.
Also, I hate that song. but have to say it flowed extremely well and worked well with the edit.

no critiques just awesome edit man. I love how clean it is, nice clean cuts and not much editing to take away from the skiing. i'd much rather watch a simple edit with amazing skiing/filming. Also really liked how you only used audio on some shots-- alot of times if it's throughout the whole edit it becomes distracting. be thankful geopper can do the same identical trick twice in a row! haha loved the change of angles

Am I the only one that didn't really like this edit? I know the desaturated look is all cool and stuff, but I really didn't like how this was executed. The angles REALLY bothered me, the framing was off and pretty much all shots were from behind. The music was depressing and it didn't really flow well.
The shot at 2:21 started off-axis for some reason, was quite annoying.
At 3:15 I really liked the editing, nice job!
Framing at 4:12 was dope!


I know I sound a bit harsh but you asked for critique.
You obviously balanced your glidecam really well and your shots were smooth, I just didn't like the way you shot it. Also, maybe add a little vignette next time, the corners were a bit too 'empty' for me.

As for Goepers style: I liked it! Floaty, buttery and just smooth! Switch dub 14 was super nice!

I'm going to contradict what you just said here for multiple reasons, first off dead on frame is boring IMO, ask Landis hell tell you the same thing, When he goes out of frame witch was maybe 2 times that's not right.

Personally I hate when every shot is dead on. But thanks for the feedback dude! I appreciate all the constructive criticism I get!

Ok, I love how you take it man! I have much respect for you being so young, getting out there and trying your best! I don't mind going out of frame, on the contrary actually, I found some shots were too wide (big jumps especially). Maybe you could've gotten in a little closer, or cropped in post.


And btw, it's which, not witch.

I have a quick question about this. He filmed this in 720p at 60fps (i'm guessing the whole edit unless some of the 100% speed clips he switched to 1080). If he's filming all in 720, and editing in a 720 timeline (is this right?), there's no room left to bump in during post without loosing quality, correct? just clearing things up for myself. thanks

This edit ranks up there with your Sandy Boville edit, What I find is your editing is always on point and it's the songs you choose that make the edits. One of the main reasons I love the Sandy Boville edit is because wings is an awesome song. This goes equally for this song Paradise was perfect. Song selection really can make or break an edit and it made this edit,

IMO, a quality edit pairs music with the type of shot perfectly.

T'was my favorite DTF edit Zac, nice work. Stoked on you going in on normal speed. btw that song was chill, fuck the haters. Personally I thought it woulda been dope w/o the doubles but thats just my opinion.

I didn't like how the audio in certain shots were "incomplete", you would have the sound of the stomp on rails but not the slide (or in some cases, the tap. which is the coolest audio sound in ski edits IMO).

Also, the colors were ok, but not good, and I wasn't down with the film burns.

The shot at 3:30(?) where most of the shot is the sky looks fucking awesome.

Good job bringing the sound in on some of those rails.

Song was fine don't listen to those guys it fit really well.

I think this edit is one of your stronger ones. But try and switch up your perspective more (you spend a lot of time behind the skier, get some more landing/side). Also I see your trying to pick up a 70-200, I think a solid mix of tele shots would really bring it to the next level. As always though jealous of your smooth glide cam skills.

Not huge, and I know you know but try and keep your shadow out of the shot (last shot).

Its an amazing edit, definitely one of your best, but I have a few critiques:
-mix up your shots so your not always behind the skier
-you were pretty far away from nick in some of the shots
-use a slower shutter speed so the footage doesn't look so digital
