Expanding on Shanes statement (Park and Powder)

In Seth Chronicles Shane Mck. is tossing up between Terrain park and Powder. He says 'Yea the terrain park landings are hard, and if you crash it hurts more, but there's just something about not knowing that snow under the landing, or there could be a bump on the take off etc etc'
Now i wanted to see what other people think. Would you rather be known lets just make it easier, the seth or shane image? or the Tanner oh simon dumont? if you can be bothered, answer with all views, I.E money, ski ability and respect amoungst peers.

the best idea ever was the one that was diabolicly hatched today at lunch in the hall way of my school. It involved a boat and beer and selling that beer to 14 yearolds for like $3 a bottel, so that way from every 24 we got, we would get 12 and then never have to pay for our own beer again. and if the poilice tried to stop us, we were drive away in a boat (which doesnt have a licence plate) but, if there were on a baot, we were throw peanuts at them, cause its highly probable that one of them in alergic to then and he would go into anaphletic shock and we were get away. if that didnt work we were catapult cows at them and wait for the headlines 'police boat sunk by flying cows'. --Apple.

im more along the lines of the Seth-Shane Idea, except we really don't have a park, so we have to build our own shit. So in a sense everythign is natural in many ways. So i guess im more along those lines, if thats what u meant

morrison and McConkey still aren't really doing 'tricks' off cliffs and stomping them on two feet.
I think 'park' skiers are evolving into the superior breed. Layout back flips and no grab ballerina style 'rodeo's' off huge cliffs, with absolutly no atempt at landing on two feet isn't as technical as people wish it was.
Compare Seth's back slapper 'rodeo (dont forget the no grab ballerina style) seven stomped' featured in his K2 ad last season, vs. Mickeal Deschenaux's rodeo seven mute off the cliff in 1242. Mickeal stomped the fuck out of that on two feet with buckets of style. Then there is pep hitting 60 foot plus booters landing fakie on two feet, and just wait till you see some of Anthony's jumps this year. I'm claiming here and now easily one of the biggest, most stylish 7's on skis or boards ever, and you know he didn't backslap. What these guys are doing takes far more skill and technical ability than skiing off a 100 foot cliff doing a backflip and landing on your ass.

Than again you have to start somewhere. If it was not for the black slapping rodeos, these young pups would not be stomping the shit they are...But I do agree.

morrisons rodeo and mikaels rodeo's were sorta different...mikeals was stomped but it was more set up to stick...seths was a 60 ft cornice huck, i dont think the landing would have let him stomp it if he tried...but mind you mikael is way more fluid in the air trick wise than seth is...seth goes big and look comfortable, but his rodeos are pretty cat-outta-the-bag...

it seems to me that none of you have actually tried to drop a big cliff before let alone try and huck a rodeo off of one. landing in powder is alot harder then landing in a park because the park will always be groomed, smooth and consistent for most part. landing in powder is always different, it could be waist deep or it could only be ankle deep and the landings are more often then not lined up the same as the cliff face so they are always landing on a side angle. anybody that has gone out and dropped a decent sized cliff will know this

^^sounds like some people will need to bathe in the pool of progression and move park to back country cliffs likes its been doing slowing.

i like powder more just because of the fact that you don't have to wate in line to take your run in powder, the park, at least where i ski is always filled with people

Its winter, the birds have all flown south, all but one. One little bird that waited too long. As it flew to catch it's buddies it got icicles on its wings and fell to the ground. The bird then saw a nice looking branch at the top of a nearby tree and it said to a nearby cow, 'I want to reach that top branch but I don’t have then energy to fly up, can you help?' The cow said, 'Here, eat some of my poop it'll fuel you to climb up the tree.' The little bird said, 'Thanks!' and had some of the cow poop. The bird flew up to the first branch of the tree and rested, then the next day flew to the next branch, until finally the bird reached the top branch. Then the farmer came out with a shotgun...
The moral of the story is, bullshit may get you to the top, but it wont keep you there.

Mickael's rodeo was way different than Seth's. Mickael had a booter on top of that tiny cliff. Morrison tried a rodeo 7 off an 80 footer. hmmmm...I do like what Shane said about balls though....I'll take balls over style any day. Mickael has marginal skill when compared to Seth or Shane. Shoot the Gaffney's kick Mickael's wannabe BC butt.

I think seth is comfortable with where he is and mickael is always pushing it and right in the thick of the movement. Breck claims to have had some sort of park for 21 years not counting 0405. But I agree there was no park movement when he (seth)was younger (he is not old I mean like 14) not even the boarders yet really.

Mickael, and Seth's rodeos were done in completely different settings. I don't think they should even be compared using the same type of criteria. If Seth had a setup like Mickael's he would have landed on on both feet straight up no back slap. Put Mickael in Seth's rodeo attempts in SM3(60-80 footers with no packed lip) he'd have a tough time even dropping it no disrespect for Mickael, he amazes me, but in a different way than seth. Seth doesn't back slap everything, watch SM3, the first backflip in the second song of his seg is stomped like nothing. It all boils down to what the skier is used to. Some skiers like jumping/falling from insane heights over rocks and such, some are just as comfortable in the park on rails, hard landings and what not. I think that the skiers that ski big lines, drop cliffs, and still rip the park like second nature are the best. Boronowski, Abma, CR, Jon, Henrick, Mike D, Vinnie, and especially Pep, and Pollard(there are others too). Pep landing 5's both ways into powder was the most astounding thing in a movie last year. That was the moment that I think Big lines and Park skiing got the closest that they have ever been. I get just a psyched watching Seth popping 'ballerina' rodeo and landing so so, as I do watching Mickael stomp the fuck out of switch cork 10's. It's all skiing to me, when taken in context to what it is, it never fails to get me pumped to ski.

exactly my point, take the trick in context to where it is happening. 60ft rodeos, no matter how 'ballerina' like they are, happen to be pretty damn sick if you're into anything other than park. Mickael's rodeo was super sick too, just not the same. If you are going to say Seth's rodeos look like shit, at least give props where they're due for progressing his own aspect of the sport.
