Dub advice

So saturday I am going to try my first dub. It's gonna be a dub back on a 50 to 60 foot jump any advice??????

Visualize visualize visualize! Also, it will be hard, but if you can spot the landing after the first flip then you are golden. Only tried dub flat 7 (caught one of my tips in the powder), but it should be the same; just get super confident about it, go in with lots of speed and send 'er!

They aren't very hard just scary.

I expect vids of you stomping it on Saturday night!

There's no reason to come untucked. Why would that happen? I doubt you are going to flip so hard you can't stay in a ball...

That said -

If you feel it, go for it, if you aren't feeling it or think that something could go wrong DONT DO IT. You will end up progressing much further each season if you don't get hurt.

what i always do to learn a new trick is to not think about it, dont tell anyone, then just throw it when it feels right, just take your time.

Yeah this. If you start telling other people about trying it then you may feel forced into trying it when you don't want too. Figure it out in your head and then wait until the time is right, and send it.

i tried one of like a 30 lol, landed on my face, but idk..
don't be scared, don't think..

1. don't speed check
2. go into a a tuck before your'e off the jump
3. right when you're approaching the jump slowly start to stand
4. while your knees are still bent begin to pop while you're on the lip of the jump
5. tuck like ah mother fucker.
6. don't untuck. you will fucking die
7. after you're past your first rotation and half way through your second slowly un tuck
8. keep knees slightly bent ( you've already spotted your landing)
9. land, having the impact go to your knees
10. land just far enough backseat, that you head straight to afterbang haha

good luck, a dub's just a mindgame!

If you're trying it today this is probably too late, but I'd always try new tricks, especially dubs, into powder first, makes for a nice soft landing if you get it wrong

For me...I usually like to tell people I am about to try it. Especially very young children who are better skiers than I am. That way I can't bitch out.

Your first dub on a 50-60 footer.....Is it just me or does that seem a little big for a first dub? Maybe its just cause that would be big for me, do you normally throw down on that size booter? in which case it might feel more normal and give you more air to finish the trick.

if your confident with flat 3s, i would imagine that dub flat 7s would be safer to try than dub backs, seeing as your not going fully inverted, and wouldnt be as fucked if you under rotated

yeah im pretty used to the size they were just built three weeks ago at my mountain and i have layout backed and super maned and 900 them so i like the jump

Looked nice for a first try.
2 things:
1. More air and you would have had it.
2. Tuck the knees in to the chest a bit more.

But nice first try! Did you straight air the jump first? Because you were well short of the landing...

Maybe try popping. You just kind of leaned back. From what I assume guys, he probably did straight air the first jump, but he probably had a nice pop. On his attempt he didn't pop whatsoever so that could be why he didn't make it to the landing.

Holy shit that looked like you just over rotated your first ever back flip.

1. Pop, your head almost hit the lip of the jump.
2. Figure the speed out. You were like 10 -15 feet short of where you should have been landing

I'd say the speed wasn't problem. The pop was. If you popped, you probably would have taken it to the landing. vibes, that got to hurt. Pretty amazing how you didn't get paralyzed or something.

very good question. At first when he nearly hit his head on the jump i was like oh hes gonna over-rotate, then you managed to slow your rotation down so much that you landed on your face, on the knuckle.

I'll be honest, if that's how you're throwing single backies, you might wanna clean those up first. If you just fucked up on that one, I'd suggest single flipping it at least once before going for a dub.

That may be the earliest takeoff I've ever seen, and I've seen some early takeoffs.

WAIT! Seriously, be patient. By not popping and slinging the flip off the jump, you are drastically reducing your hang time causing you to have less time to flip and giving almost zero control of the flip.

I could give you more advise, but internet coaching is not how you want to learn dubs. You are extremely lucky to not be seriously injured after that fall, much less alive. I HIGHLY advise you get on some water ramps and get some formal coaching before you try that on snow again.
