gopros are tougher so if you plan on crashing or dropping it get a gopro. but if you are going to have it mounted to your helmet or goggles get a contour because they are lighter and way more comfortable to have on your head. in terms of film quality i believe the gopro 2 has the best quality but i havnt looked at the specs for the contour recently.

I would go with a gopro personally, but you can't go wrong with either, each has their pro and their cons, both give epic POV footage however. Asking this is like asking who would win in a fight the travelling circus or nimbus independant
