Please Help - I am retarded when it comes to mobile phones

Okay. I can't seem to wrap my head around the whole unlocking/smartphone/SIM card thing so I need help. Here's the situation:
- Lost my blackberry, need a new one to put on my current plan. (BELL CANADA)
- Friend is going to give me her old blackberry for free (ROGERS CANADA)
how on earth do I go about getting this blackberry to work for me?

There should be a shop in your town where they fix phones. They probably do unlocking there. Get the phone unlocked and it will work for bell.

I don't know if I'm retarded or what, but I've tried to google it and it seems like its in another language, all the fucking SIM card, GSM, HSPS, IMEI bullshit I just have no idea whats going on. I just something that I can make phone calls with. (Fucking bell won't let me out of my "blackberry" plan. I tried to downgrade to justa normal voice plan but that sure as hell isn't allowed. Scumbag mobile providers.)

Just try and find a shop in your city that fixes and unlocks phones. No through Bell because they won't do it. Once unlocked you can use it on any provider. I took in my mom's blackberry to get it unlocked. It was on Bell. Now she is on Rogers and able to use any provider.
